please give me feedback ! I am really scared.

I would say your chances are pretty good but not slam dunk. The ACT score is a little on the low side for State but the GPA and course selection are good.

I’d agree with rep-ipsa’s assessment. Your ECs are great, if you are able to fully explain your passion for what you do in your essay I think you definitely have a pretty decent chance of getting in. They might defer you for 7th semester grades - just make sure senior year you keep up your grades (3.5+) and you will increase your chances. Your ACT score is the only thing holding you back, and I personally know several students who got admitted with ACT scores similar (or lower) than yours. Good luck!

Yeah I actually did write that in my essay, Well I got too personal though, I chose the one if I was in a group with other freshmen, how would my past experiences help me…And I wrote how I had depression, and how I came to a realization that people who seem different are not that bad, and I wrote a little about my nationality and how it feels to be a Muslim with all the hate circulating around me. And I know I hate my ACT score, but I took it two times and a 21 is the best I can get I hope I do get in though! I can not wait any longer :(

Also, I talked to a lady at our school and her kids go to MSU, she said her son had a GPA like mine with good extracirriculars but an ACT score of a 19. So IDK but then I read about kids who have high gpas and acts and it seriously scares me a bit !

I feel like you have a chance of being accepted right away - your GPA is good and you’ve taken hard classes. Even though your ACT is low, you are a first gen. student and that means a lot to the admissions office! If you do get deferred, it’s not the end of the world. Just remember to work hard and show the admissions office that you want to go to MSU badly and if they are your number one choice, let them know that.

fe2011: yeah my friend got deferred with a 4.0 gpa and a 23 on the ACT. I don’t know anyone who got denied. I’ve noticed MSU has deferred almost everyone w/ ACT’s under 25 regardless of your GPA. If they keep deferring good students are they worth it?

See your friend and my friend are the only people I know who got in w/ lower ACTS. And the only reason I think my friend got in is because he’s hispanic. He skips class like everyday. and YES! process is annoying!

I hate that, its like there are kids that actually try but do not get credit or anything! but I think you will get in, youll probably hear after april

yeah i know right it sucks. and thanks! I know you’ll get in too. and April is too late for me. I’m making a college decision in Feb. so I can send in the housing app and orientation $ in March so I might luck out of MSU…oh well there’s always MSU medical school!

I think earlier, call and check :)and if I don’t get in msu I think Boise state or Oregon bc it’s automatic admission for 3.4 or higher and it’s just as fun!

yeah i still kind of want to go to MSU but when I got deferred I started leaning towards a diff. school, therefore my mind got off of MSU. good luck to you though!
