Chances to Philips Exeter/ Should I go?

Hi
I apologize in advance because I know this forum is supposed to be for colleges, but I don’t know where else I can get good answers. Also, I did my research on the school website but it lacked some information or I just missed it.Sorry!

Boarding:
First of all, is it a good idea to go to boarding school at Exeter. Homesickness isn’t a problem for me and neither is independence. I am however confused as to how one can do extracurricular activities that require leaving the school campus, and if it is allowed, does it require a lot of time/struggle. Also, on the weekends are we allowed out for a short period of time to go to the mall for example. Additionally, how large are the dorm rooms and how many room mates will I have?

Academics:
I see that Exeter does not offer Advanced Placement classes. Will that affect my college application or do they have some variant. Also, which classes are required and for how many semesters, and how many electives can be taken. For me, I want to go into foreign services so I’d like to take more language courses and also computer science courses. Is it possible to take more electives than regular? Also, how dedicated are the teachers i.e. if you have a science project you’re working on independently, will the science teacher offer help and mentor you.

Atmosphere:
I’ve heard that at many boarding schools, there is a elitist attitude and the students on financial aid are excluded or bullied, perpetuating the “snobby rich kid” stereotype. However, I also heard that Philips Exeter has a very inclusive community. Can someone who has attended PEA settle it for me?

Miscellaneous:
Is the food good? What are the Curfews? What are the punishments for altercations?

Registration:
On the website, it says all application materials are due by January 15. However that will be the end of the first trimester of my eight grade year. It wants me to get a recommendation from my teachers, but they may not know me as well as my current 7th grade teachers. Also, there is one notorious math teacher at my school that I am guaranteed to get because she is the only one who teaches Advanced Math. I’m slightly afraid that she might put something OVERLY negative. (I admit I have my flaws)
Also, the deadline to register for a campus visit is Jan 31 even though the application materials are due a few weeks before. The website says that it wants you to first visit, and then decide whether you want to apply?

Can I make it???

I have all A’s, except for B’s in English Honors. I skipped a grade and math and placed nationwide for math competitions such as AMC and Math Kangaroo. I also represented USA at WMTC in Seoul 2016 and got bronze medal. I have participated in Science Olympiad for three years and placed top twenty at regionals seven times. I also lead Quizbowl at my middle school and have a PPG of 48.75. (round average)

I am interested in computer science and participate in robotics competitions such as FTC and FLL.

Nominated for National Geographic Teen Service Award, Global Lego Innovation Award

I am fluent in Mandarin, English, and Spanish and I am currently working on Russian (Cyrillic form). I plan to either start a tech company or become a diplomat/ international relations officer.

I would describe myself as a good leader and someone who can improvise and stay calm in stressful situations.

I have an IQ of 164 (Doesn’t really matter though because its not a measure of success)

I play the piano competitively and have performed at Carnegie hall multiple times and also in London and Colorado.

I’m from a family of six and will require partial (15–30K) financial aid for boarding school.

There’s also a bunch of tiny awards and stuff that don’t really matter so…

Thank you SO MUCH for reading through this mess!

Putting the cart before the horse here. Work on getting accepted first. Almost all your questions are too premature and can be answered by browsing through the materials available on their website. Unless you have a good local option as an alternative, you’ll need to apply to more schools than just PEA. Cast a wide net is a term often used here.

There is no magic formula to an acceptance, sorry to say. Pursue your passions, get good grades, score high on the SSAT, nail the interview and essays, and let the chips fall where they may.

Follow @skieurope 's advice. You should really think about getting in before any of this. Like many other boarding schools, Exeter is difficult to get into. PEA is one of many (many) many many many amazing boarding schools. Try to make a list of maybe 3-6 that you would like to apply to. Maybe look at: Andover, Deerfield, Choate, Saint Paul’s, Middlesex, Milton, Groton. Although a lot of these schools listed are actually harder to get into than Exeter, so you should consider some safety schools too. (I recommend NMH and Berkshire).

These are all amazing schools that have something to offer. Really, any school within the top 30 has something amazing to offer.
