Chances to transfer to NYU Stern!

Hey, what do you guys think my chances are to transfer to NYU STERN? I really appreciate any input. Thanks.

High School GPA: 2.8/4.0
SAT 1: 1640/2400

(Yeah, I know, I was really lazy in high school and didn't really wake up and get my act together until about the end of senior year)

I currently have 34 credits with a bulk of it from macroeconomics and math courses

College GPA: 3.9/4.0
Extracirriculars:
-Founded Finance Club and am current president.

-Treasurer of Economics Honor's Society.

-Interned with Congressman Ron Paul last summer for a month.(He is a staunch exponent of the Austrian school of economics and free trade)

-Actively participate in Peter Schiff's campaign for senate.(Austrian school economist and financial expert who accurately predicted the recession)

-Active member of Campaign for Liberty.(Once again for free-market economics, monetary policy, free trade, and etc.)

-Active member of the Republican Liberty Caucus.

-I am also very active in my father and uncle's brokerage firm. So I'm essentially a quasi-intern/employee.

-Have a strong investment portfolio in the commodities market and doing quite well.

I dunno if what I listed above carries any weight but I guess that's why I'm here to find out. Sorry if I missed anything or am trailing off, please let me know.

I’m not very familiar with the transfer admissions process, but I don’t think your strong college GPA will erase poor secondary school GPA and poor SAT score.

Hi, I’m a spring '08 transfer.

I’m going to be straight with you. Transferring into Stern is a total crapshoot. They have a high retention rate, and very few spots open up for transfers. There’s someone floating around the Transfer Student subforum who actually got into Stern - I’d post this there and go talk to him.

Generally, if you apply for fall of your JUNIOR year, they don’t care as much about your high school record.

If you’re desperate to get into NYU, and feel as if you can handle doing CAS Econ and not Stern Econ (search this forum for the difference), I would HIGHLY recommend CAS. There are more spots there for transfers.

Are you transferring from a four-year college or a community college?

I wish you lots of luck- this transferring business is a ■■■■, but totally worth it.

Thanks guys, I had a strong feeling about that, if that’s the case I might give it a shot when I hit 60+ credits. Oh and I’m coming from a 4 year college.
