I am currently a freshmen at a liberal arts school in Maine and i was wondering what my chances n how difficult it is to transfer to Stern as a sophomore. What do i need and what is necessary and what the chances are to get into stern.

Good Grades at your college in Maine, and the usual good gigh school grades and transcript. Did you apply as a freshman?

thank you for your reply!
yes i did, but i got rejected...
I did not do so well in highschool, i took as many AP's as i could but did not get many A's.. and i only got 1 C which was precalc. I am currently getting an A+ in calc in college thought and i also got a 740 on my MATH 2C examination. Does Stern have any course requirements that i need to take and i am not aware?

The requirements haven't changed since you applied as a freshmen. Hopefully, with a good semester under your belt; NYU will change their mind. Good Luck.

thanks again, the only thing is that my school does not offer the accounting class.... courses i am currently taking are
1. Calculus I.
2. First year seminar (mandatory writing class for 1st year students)
3. Intro to Macro Econ
4. Spanish (introduction a los estudios literarios) which is like a 200 level class

Next semester I am planning to take
1. Linear Algebra
2. Calculus II
3. Econ Statistics
4. Intro to Microeconomics
5. Spanish 211 (another requirement for the spanish major here at my school).

Is it true that I need at least a 3.8 to get a chance and that admissions is really competitive? if it is... i am very sad and discouraged.. =(

a nyone??????????????????

I would say try to take Financial Accounting, Statistics

students IN NYU already who aren't in Stern rarely successfully transfer into Stern, even with a 4.0 GPA.

trying won't hurt so in 10 years you won't think "damn i wonder what would've happened if i didn't listen to that ***** from collegeconfidential.com.." but keep in mind that chances are slim, even for current NYU students.

thats a good point, i just want to get out of where i am right now...
since i am an econ major, would it be better for me to just apply to CAS instead of Stern? like my chances of getting in are higher right? if i do, then i am considering doing the B.A/M.A program. can i still apply for that even as a transfer? am i taking the right courses to transfer to CAS?

you should really ask the admissions office these sort of questions..they get paid for this.
and macro econ/language/calc ii/linear algebra/and econ stats are not required of stern students just in case you were wondering
