I am an applicant very interested in Virginia tech if I do not get into a service academy. I will be in the corps of cadets if accepted. I have already received an Army ROTC scholarship.

Stats as follows:

GPA 3.5 w/ 16 AP/Honors courses

SATs 800R, 700W, 690M

3 varsity sports with 4 letters
100+ service hours
Boys State
Boys State Governor
National and state awards (8)

If any one could give me some guidance as to what to expect it would be appreciated. I also did an overnight visit with the corps.

3.5 weighted? That’s a little low for VA Tech, except maybe for University Studies (i.e. undecided) However, VA Tech operates on the 1600 scale so this amounts to 1490.

I checked the ‘corps of cadets’ option so I will be joining a very small campus group. According to buddies already in the corps, the say if you select military option is almost impossible to not get in…

You GPA is slightly low for VT, but your SAT scores are awesome. It’s most competitive if you’re trying to major in Engineering or Architecture. I think you’ll get in.
