it might work, jwang. i have some friends who didn't take any ap courses at all (edit: actually one is taking calc ab and the other is taking calc bc and statistics this year), and their sat scores weren't that stellar but they still got into berkeley because of their kick-ass essays (supposedly).

What kind of topic ?? :

cuz it's gotta be some outstanding and unique topics in order to stand out from the crowd.

I have an idea, which might be a bit wild...maybe a bit crazy and extravagant...

how about....you just be yourself and stay honest in your essays?

Why sacrifice your dignity for college? is that the way you wanna live your life?

If so, your loss...

I totally agree. Honesty is a HUGE deal, and real life events seem to be a lot more plausible and a LOT more interesting...just because you can connect with them on a personal level.

cuz I mean...how many "I love cleaning old peoples asses" essays dont you think the admission folks read every year?

one of my friends started his essay a month before deadline, and asked many teachers to proofread, give suggestions many, many times (many).

i just thought of a few topics

1-When i first came to America

2-the sacrafices my parents have made to help me...........

3-fishing w/ my father( major hobby )

do they even work?

The first 2 have been used over and over and over... and over again. Especially the 2nd one.

damn these people lol

How does your parents' scacrafices reflect what kind of person YOU are?

I dunno :-| <--the fact that i know how to appreciate?? no clue lol

the topic creator posted his stats on virtually every single ivy league school and top tier university. that's what the "what are my chances" forum is for.

good observation!...way to be perspicacious...and i used the "what are my chances" forum, it did not generate enough response...thus, every single ivy and more...does CC require explanations at all, unlimited?
