Chances - UCs and more

Hi, can anyone rate my chances of getting into the following schools?

UCSD
UC Davis
UC Santa Barbara
UCI
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo

desired major: computer engineering/comp. sci.

stats:

3.8 GPA, 1290 SAT (620 verbal, 670 math), 660 writing, 680 Math 2C and 660 physics, decent amount of ECs, top 10% of graduating class

If the 3.8 is your UC GPA, it's a bit under average for all schools. Your SAT is above average. SATIIS pretty strong for UC's and you have the necessary top 10%. I'd say Irvine is safe, SD, SB and Cal Poly are matches and SD is a reach.

yea 3.8 is my UC GPA

would like some more opinions as well, thanx

anyone.............?

i should note that i'm white, so no benefits there

UCs can't take race into the equasion. Anytime your grades/rank/score don't fall above averages, the essay becomes very important. There was a recent thread that showed UCB adcoms's comments on applicants. Read it for real insight. For a candidate like yourself, a good essay will mean admission.

bump
i wrote a pretty decent essay, but i think it was still a mistake to mark the ethnicity box

I want to go to UCSD. Yeah they all have really high GPA's but if you get good test scores I'd say you've got a chance.

UCSD admissions seem tough, but a couple people from my school were admitted last year, with similar stats, though higher GPAs....... we'll see till march

any more opinions?

bump ............
