bump…anyone?

bump…someone

Well I think the only thing that’s kind of… ‘lacking’ are your EC’s, kind of out of focus, but nevertheless good. Though I’d try getting a leadership position or two in a couple of those. And you haven’t taken enough AP’s/Honors, most applicants have nearly a full schedule of honor’s/AP. Of course, if they just aren’t offered in your school, just have your guidance counselor write you a letter of rec explaining that.
ACT is great, but SAT IIs USH and chemistry are really your good ones to send in.

UCLA- in state, so a reach
UCB- mid-high reach
UChicago- kinda foggy, they’re kinda strange at times, but somewhere between middish high reach to reach
UPenn- mid-high reach (just a tad more than UCB though)
Northwestern- reach
Carnegie- reach
Cornell- middish-high reach (though less than that of Upenn)

^
What is your definition of ‘reach’?

umm im taking 1 more honor and 3 more ap’s this year
but thank you!!!

I’d agree that the weakest part of your profile my be your ECs. They seem a little unfocused, and sometimes unbalanced. Make sure to follow through on what you’re involved in this year. And, of course, don’t do anything for any other reason than yourself.

Academically, you’re very impressive. (I wish I had stats like yours!) It seems to me like you’d be a pretty good match/slight reach for all of these schools. UChicago might be more of a high reach.

I would have to say you ARE lacking in EC’s although only to some extent. I think UC’s (all of them) are matches and UChicago, Upenn, and northwestern are low-reaches…meaning you might need some luck to get in (or just an awesome essay accompanied with great recs).

Chance back?

i know my ec’s are lacking >.< but do you know what I can do or do i just talk about how much i love doing them in my essays?
how about ucsd? its my dream school

How many APs does your school offer?

umm about 10 or so…i’ve taken all but ap lit , ap spanish, calc bc cuz im taking calc ab, ap stats, ap environmentalsci and ap compsci( the other ap’s are for toher languages im not taking)
i did take physics and psych at the community college though

I’m sure you’ll get into UCSD. No worries. Are you in-state?

yup:) sooo glad I am

Looks pretty good! Your GPA’s good, as well as SAT scores. idk why the others are saying this, but your ECs are pretty decent.
Chance me please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/974360-chance-uc-colleges-special-case.html

bump…

bump…please help me!

Uh, really. I kind of disagree with the people above. Your EC’s are fine, especially due to your interests. You’re interested in Bio, and you have lots of science EC’s. You enjoy helping people, so you have a lot of service. There are two main aspects to your EC’s…What’s wrong with that? Nothing. They’re fine! Just not like…omg you cured cancer, but they’re still solid.

Apply with confidence, just make sure to illustrate your passion.

i also just got a job teaching swimming so it may seem like i did something to do with swimming and kids all through high school…does that help my chances? and im applying to chicago ealry

your scores are pretty good. It looks to me that academically you fall in the range for all of these schools. Now the EC’s are not very good at all, you’d be wanting to do something about that.

UC’s- Berkeley-slight reach, LA- slight reach, SD- great fit,
, Uchicago-mid to high reach
, Upenn- mid to high reach
, Northwestern- reach

now keep in mind that it also depends on which college, department you’ll be applying to

Good luck :D

I’d say you could probably get in at all of them. Penn, Chi, and NW are high, mid, and low reaches in that order because of you’re average ECs.
