My school offers a total of 9 AP courses (really small school) of which I've taken (or soon will) 5 of.
Also I felt I would throw this in, for the 4 years I've been in high school I've never heard of anyone that has gone to a nearby college to take a course our school didn't provide.
Our school only offer 2 languages and I dropped AP Spanish for AP Bio because I didn't enjoy Spanish.
On our school profile there are 16 courses that are listed as most rigorous courses. Which I've taken (or will) 9 of.

EC:
4 years of Relay for Life
Co-Captain of Math Team
Co-Founder of Chess Club
2 years of JV Cross Country (Our school's running is pretty fast)
2 years of varsity tennis
3 years of 5th Grade Mentoring, 1 year of co-coordinating
1 year of beach clean up
11 years of violin
2.5 years of piano

I understand that UC schools don't take into account freshmen and senior year for GPA calculation because they use a a-g grading system. My biggest downfall right now is that I'm out of state, I'm Asian(which I don't think is that bad actually since under their common data sets it is very minor), my SAT is not up to par but I'm hoping I can get a 2000 on my next SAT or even at a 31 on my ACT. My GPA was completely tanked from my start because it's hard to increase your GPA and also hard to decrease if you start strong. So hopefully colleges will notice my drastic improvement.

I really would love to go to California because I have many connections there and it's California. Obviously UCB would be my top but that is probably far out of my reach. However I'm also applying to USC, UCSD, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara

Thanks for feedback in advance!

Your SAT needs to go up a bit and your GPA might hurt you but I think you might be surprised. Berkeley tends to prefer people who have shown that they’re really passionate about something, and I think if you can do that, your less-than-stellar stats might be surmountable. Don’t lose hope- it’s definitely still in reach. Best of luck!

Yeah I’m hoping that’ll be the case!

bumppp please chance :)

You are a very strong applicant and I’m sure you will get into most UC’s and maybe Berkeley and UCLA. Bring up your SAT score up a little and your application is even more impressive. Your ECs are very solid too. Good luck with your applications!
And chance me please:)

Here is a link to UCLA’s average stats: [Profile of Admitted Freshmen, Fall 2011 - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](http://www.admissions.ucla.edu/Prospect/Adm_fr/Frosh_Prof11.htm)

Your stats are below average for both UCLA and UCB, and you’re out of state as well. GPA is very important to the UC’s, even more so than SAT score. Your unweighted GPA is in the lowest quartile. Your math SAT is above average, but the two other sections are in the bottom quartile.

You have only taken 1 AP class before senior year. Even taking into account that your school only offers 9 AP classes, this does not look good. I’m not sure if you just didn’t list them, but your post indicates that you did not take any Honors courses as well.

Your EC’s look average.

You have a shot, but at UCLA, UCB, and USC there are more many applicants that are more qualified than you, and in-state. Realistically, I would give you a very low chance at these schools. Feel free to gloat if you get in; I will be happy for you.

My school doesn’t offer honors courses. It’s either advanced (which it really isn’t), regular (such as “Geometry”) or AP. So I couldn’t take honors of I wanted to. However I did mention I’ve taken most of the most rigorous courses my school offers.

Thanks for feedback! Definitely gloat if I get into Ucb, USC or ucla :p
