chances UNC EA OOS

Hey so I am a junior from OOS looking into UNC. Do I have a shot? And could you maybe suggest some other schools I should look into.

SATs: 700 cr 710 math 620 writing
ACTs: I have not taken these yet
Rank: I am currently #3 in the class but by next year could be #2 or #1 due to the number of APs I am taking
APs: 11 by end of senior year (all 4s and 5s so far)
ECs: Captain of field hockey, varsity letters in 1 other sport as well, president of class, vice president of NHS, editor of yearbook, editor of school newspaper, also have a part time job

Bump!!! I know you guys cannot really be to sure about my chances but I am curious to have your insight. I saw another girl on her had very similar stats and you all gave her good chances. The only difference is that she was an urm. Does that really make a difference?? Please help if you can. Thanks!

I think you have a great shot because your EC’s show lots of leadership and you are very involved with your school. I think it wouldn’t hurt to try to bring the SAT scores up by a bit (or try the ACT and see how you do). Be sure to show lots of passion and initiative in your application and I think you have a nice shot! Good luck:)

Passion is very, very important. You want to focus on a certain / a set of talents and not be all over the place. Other than that you seem to be a strong applicant (stronger than I was! ) though I’d consider your writing score to be a slight flaw (its inconsistent with your ECs -> editor of yearbook and newspaper).

Your academic credentials are a bit weak, but your extracurriculars are outstanding.

If you can get your class rank up to 2 or (especially) 1, and improve your scores, you should be a good candidate for UNC Chapel Hill, and should have a shot at better places, too.

Are your APs more 5s than 4s? Mostly 4s with a few 5s is a lot weaker than vice versa.
