Chances -- Unique situation

Hi! I have a sort of an interesting academic record and I'm wondering how it will affect my chances of admission to some of the more selective universities.

I have two years of high school classes -- pretty typical load
US/World History
2 years of Spanish
2 years of Honors English
Geometry
Algebra 2
Band
Biology
Honors Chem

And I averaged a 3.65

Then, in my junior year I entered an early college program called the Early College Alliance. The ECA is a high school within the campus of Eastern Michigan University. For the first semester of my junior year I took four college prep courses with other high school students to prepare us to take college classes.

These courses are
English B+
Biology A
Math (intermediate alegbra) A
Government A

The high school does not report the GPA from those courses, though, or assign class rank.

Then after the first semester, my second semester of junior year was entirely college classes which were:

Macroeconomics (ECON 201): A
Speech (CTAC 121): A
Math (Intermediate Algebra 104): A
European History in the Early Middle Ages (HIST 327): B+

My GPA is a 3.8 and from now on, my college GPA will be the one that my high school will report to colleges.

Currently, I'm taking an art class during the 7 week summer semester and I expect to get an A.

The future college classes I want to take are

Fall 2013
History in the Late Middle Ages
French I
College Algebra
Microeconomics
Spinning (gym credit)

Winter 2014
Literature course
Trigonometry
Biology 110 (it's kind of like AP Bio)
French II

Fall 2014
Calculus
Higher level Econ course
Art History
French
Sociology

So, by the fall of 2014, I will have used up 60 credits and I will be applying to colleges as a freshmen. I'm applying as a freshmen because during this entire time that I've been taking college classes, I've been a high school student.

Now, my question is not whether my credits will transfer if I apply as a freshmen, but are my chances better at getting admitted to universities than if I was applying from my original high school? How high of a weight do you think my college credits will have to the admissions office?

Also, here are my other stats for consideration.

-SAT: 1930
CR: 690
Math: 590
Writing: 650
(I plan on taking the SAT again so I can hopefully raise my math score, especially.)
-ACT: 28

Extracurriculars:
-Marching band
-Orchestra
-Section leader
-Key club
-Drama
-Science Olympiad
(During the next year I plan on joining student council and another club. I also need to get more volunteering in because I don't have many hours.)

-Oh yeah, I almost forgot I plan on getting recommendation letters from certain professors because they'll probably hold more weight than high school teachers.

I'm really sorry if this is confusing! Ask questions if you need any clarification :)

Oh, and I'm looking at majoring in economics or political science. (Original, I know.)

Some of the colleges I'm looking into are:

UC, Berkeley, LA
Stanford (lol)
Claremont McKenna
Smith
NYU
Georgetown
GWU
Rutgers
Barnard
Vanderbilt
University of Michigan
Boston U
Brown

If taking 60 credits through dual-enrollment qualify for transfer status… it’s really not the same as first-time freshman admissions.

Your situation is not unique. There are dozens, if not hundreds, of similar programs across the country. There are thousands of students in this situation and admissions offices are familiar with them.

As far as how your record will be percieved by adcoms, I would suggest that you talk to your GC. Your GC will know how successful other students from your program have been when applying to highly selective universities.

Although I am not familiar with your specific program, it appears you will not be competitive at many of the colleges on your list. I would say that only Rutgers and Boston U are realistic possiblities. Your grades and test scores are below the 25% for all the other universities on your list. Your course selection appears to include only three or four AP-level classes. Your ECs do not stand out from thousands of other applicants.

Catria – I’m not dual enrolled. For the program, when we apply to other colleges we apply as freshmen with credits.

rmldad – I was just asking the question because I was looking and looking for people with similar situations to me, and I couldn’t find any. I would keep seeing information about people taking classes at a community colleges and still going to their high school and that’s not really my situation. Also, people were always asking about how many of their credits will transfer, but that wasn’t my question either.

Thank you for your input it’s nice to see how someone unbiased to me would view my academic record.
