Thank you!!!
would you prefer that i apply undecided to upenn for ED? or as bio major?
Thanks :]

For Penn--
The major you indicate on your application as long as it lies within the same school (i.e. College of Arts and Sciences) has little effect on your chances of admission at Penn, since the adcom is aware that you can (and probably will) change your major once you enroll. Your AP scores in Bio and Env Sci. however are not great for someone who wants to be a Bio major, so perhaps its best to go with undecided. Also, try to take the Bio SATII and do really, really well on it.
Your class rank is of course very impressive and will help you (as long as you can maintain this), valedictorians have a 35% acceptance rate according to the Incoming Student Profile on Penn's website, which is more than double the overall 16%.
Your EC's are above average but nothing particularly great. You have the right basis but try to stretch everything a little. With the piano/art, maybe enter a competition or send in supplementary materials to stand out more. Research intern/hospital intern--->start on a significant research project over the summer which you can describe in your application. If possible take on some additional leadership positions at school, do something a little off-beat that interests you.
Your best shot at Penn is Early Decision. If your essays and rec's are really great I'd say like a 40% chance of getting in, but it's probably going to be a defferal.

Stanford and Yale look unlikely (but they are for everyone).
Brown is also unlikely.
You have a decent shot at JHU and have a great shot at Tufts.
You should get into the UC's assuming you're in California.

Wait, quick question... how will someone know if they are valedictorian if they apply ED???

Your class rank is undoubtedly the most impressive part of your application while your SAT scores and ECs are solidly good. As you are probably aware, your AP scores are, at the moment, low; however, if you do well on some of the AP tests your currently taking (think 4's and 5's), they'll stick out less. Also, AP scores aren't nearly as important as your ECs, SATs, and rank/grades so they aren't very much of a drawback to your application.

Rankings on a scale of: high reach, reach, semi-reach, good fit, likely, safety.

UPenn (ED)... SEMI-REACH. REACH if regular decision.
Stanford... HIGH REACH.
UCLA... LIKELY. SEMI-REACH if out-of-state.
UCB... LIKELY. SEMI-REACH if out-of-state.
Johns Hopkins University... GOOD FIT.
Brown University... REACH.
Yale University... HIGH REACH.
Tufts University... GOOD FIT.

Do you have a specific passion/focus demonstrated throughout the app? That'd make Stanford more reasonable.

Thanks so much. I live in California... so I guess it's easier to get in?

I really love art & I'm goign to send in a slide of my portfolio. But I'm not going to major in it. Should I apply as art major though? or undecided?

i have a question.. are you korean? if you are, then your sat II korean score wont help you out at all because it wont be counted as a foreign language for you.. if you are, then you should consider other sat ii subject tests, preferably bio in your case.. i know many korean friends who havent taken sat ii korean for this very reason.. it's not recommended at all... aside from that, your stats look pretty good =)

wow
our stats r so similar

mine are weaker tho

would u like to chance me plz?

ps i think u r possible at Penn if u dont apply for wharton XD

rank one with AP scores that low(three 3's and a 2?!) isn't gonna look too good..but the rest may make up for it

-UPenn- Semi-Reach
-Stanford- Reach
-UCLA- Safety
-UCB- Match
-Johns Hopkins- Match
-Brown- Reach
-Yale- Reach
-Tufts - Match

^^ UCLA's a safety while Berkeley's a match...?

kind of question how hard your school is, if valedictorian gets 2's and 3's on APs

i seriously dont think that makes sense s snack...
the ap scores may hurt you...how did you get a 3 in bio? lol so easy...

pretty good stats i guess, dunno bout ECs though...not too shiny.

btw, taking college classes counted as an EC since when?

-UPenn (ED) - reach
-Stanford - big reach
-UCLA - slight reach
-UCB - slight reach
-Johns Hopkins - slight reach/reach
-Brown - reach/big reach
-Yale - big reach
-Tufts - match/slight reach
