<p>most really competitive schools have a 3.0 gpa minimum requirement, no matter how good the rest of your application is. you might want to check that out first.</p>
<p>Thank you for responding to this post. My son and I need help with our college list. Is there hope for a very average record. Are we on target? We are looking for engineering programs in the northeast. J attends a rigorous private New England school. He was deemed learning disabled in primary school. He was a slacker freshman and sophmore year. His junior year, "he finally connected to school" thanks to wonderful science teachers. He found physics came very easy to him and was a pleasure.</p>

<p>I think you should definetly stress the Indian-related activities (violin, Sanskrit, relief work) so they know/think you're really passionate about India. Your GPA is a bit low, but again, if you really bring out your extracurriculars, write a good essay, show that you LOVE rochester, etc, you should have a shot.</p>
