I'm not sure if this will raise my chances but I have a lot more high school credits than needed due to summer school and advanced classes in middle school.
Credit wise I am 23.5 Credits at end of Junior year where Requirement to graduate is only 24 credits. Will have 30.5 by graduation.

How are my chances at my reach schools? I'm not sure if ACT will be raised but I am studying to try and bump it a point or two.

Any other suggested Universities I should look into with a good Engineering field? Preferably not Ivy's , Stanford, and Berkeley. I know about those :]

Bump 1

I am OOS for all these colleges.

Are you asian? That’s just a question, haha, but anyways, I think you have a great chance at what you may think are reach schools (USC, NYU and UCLA), especially if you look at this year’s stats. Maybe even UT, and Rice, I just don’t know too much about those two schools, but otherwise, I’m sure USC, NYU and UCLA are all matches!

Hehe. As a matter of fact I am. What gave it away? D:

^
like half the people here are asian…literally…including me…sort of…half…Chinese/Japanese…and Hispanic…woot…

You got a great shot at all of your schools.
Rice will be the hardest to get into?
MIT is not Ivy League…I really think you have a shot at it…even Caltech…
I think UTs Engineering school is the best, but I might be biased…UM Ann Arbor also has a good engineering school, as well as Texas A&M-college station ( has a good rep)…Carnegie Mellon as well…
I would go to UT or UM for engineering though, as they are the best public universities in engineering except for Berkeley… UT accepts AP tests if you get a ‘2’~!(thats easy!) I really think they’re a rising star, and has become the ‘UC Berkeley’ of Texas…except us Texans get automatic admission if we make the top 10%…w00t…according to some ranking UT Rivals Cornell and beats out many of the Ivy schools and well as rice.
UM is already a HUGE private university, and I think that they will be equally hard to get into since you’re out of state, but you have a great shot with a 4.0, although I would take the SAT. UM is ranked even higher then UT.

some basic info on A&M:
They really do have a top notch Engineering school, some would say better then Schools like Rice, UCLA, and Virginia Tech. IT is in a city called ‘College Station’ (although I really can’t understand why they call it that) and it is a totally university town.

Best of luck…

Good luck with UT

The top 10% rule in tx kills the admissions at that school (something like 80% are top 10% in state kids)

I was top 11% and got CAP’d

You’ll get accepted to a lot of your schools, but a 31 ACT is not getting anyone into MIT or Caltech.

Your 4.0 and 31 ACT and strong courseload will get you into USC, NYU, UCSB, UCI, UCSD and Texas. It will probably get you into UCLA OOS–and it is borderline for Rice.

As far as Texas A&M, it’s in a gorgeous town, and has a good engineering school, but it is full of a really conservative group of students and parents (nothing wrong with that I guess, but it’s not for everyone). If you are a George Bush (junior) lover, then you’ll fit right in, but if you are a left-leaning democrat (or even more central) or a member of the Green party, then you’ll feel like you are the one in the million there that disagrees with the Republican views. UT is the more democratic party leaning school (so thus the UC Berkeley of Texas comment above).

As far as UT and UM being the best public schools for engineering besides Berkeley–they are both very good, but Georgia Tech, UCLA, Illinois, UC San Diego, Wisconsin and Purdue also should be considered. UT and UM are certainly both in the top 10 minimum for publics, though.

P.S. You might want to clarify whether UW in your post above stands for Washington or Wisconsin–or someplace else.

i got into usc and nyu already, but they weren’t really reaches for me, and i don’t think they’re really reaches for you either. have you not heard yet? i do think you will get into the majority of the schools you applied to. don’t worry!

^
oops I said UM was private…ITs public…soz…heh…

A&M is conservative, but I was actually surprised with the number of Asians there…but anyways, it is conservative…but if you moderate to far right…you should be fine.
