I am a high school junior with intentions to major in engineering. I have narrowed my top three schools to UMD UVA and VT. I like these schools not solely because of their strong undergrad engineering programs, but also their campus feel and relative proximity to where I live (virginia). My credentials are as follows: 4.31 weighted gpa, around 1400 expected final two score Sat, and am easily in the top 10% of my class. So far i have taken three AP classes but plan to take at least 2 more next year. I have spent this year (junior) and will be spending my next year at the NHREC Governor's school for Science and technology which is a highly slective STEM school that often competes with TJHS. I am enrolled in the engineering program at this school. Also as part of my attendance at this school, I will be mentoring at either NASA or JLAB (another government funded research facility). I am on my high school varsity high school soccer team and the student advisory board for Gov School. What do you think my chances of getting into these three schools are and which schools are more enjoyable to attend? Thanks!

I assume the 1400 is CR+M; I know that VA Tech and UVA work with weighted GPAs. But I’m willing to revise chances if it turns out that the 1400 is out of 2400. But UMD also works with unweighted.

UMD: Low match
UVA: Match
VA Tech: Safety (for something other than architecture)

UVA low match (because it is for anyone!)
Va Tech likely
UMD possible

yes its two score math and reading

And could someone please explain the “match” system to me? Sorry I am new to CC

It is just a way of saying if we think you are or are not a good match in terms of their admissions profile and your stats. It is entirely subjective, based on the poster. I thought you were a low match for UVA meaning low chance of admission. (BUT that is just one persons uneducated opinion)
