Hi I’m a sophomore in high school, and I have just started to think of college options. Living in New Jersey, I didn’t want to go too far from home, but I wanted ti definetly leave the state. After watching Vilanova kill the NCAA Tournament, I wanted to research the school a little, as I really had no concepts of any colleges. I really liked the passion my school had for sports, and had a teacher that loved her time there, and was wondering my chances for it-as a student looking to major in medicine or biology (something along medical lines).
I currently have a 4.1 gpa, and have taken, in my two years in high school, 1 AP, and 6 Honors classes. I rank 37th out of about 230-240 kids in my class.
I have currently not as many servhce hours as I would hope, (15) but my main volunteering was going to happen this summer and junior year anyway. I have played for the school soccer team for the past two year and will continue to, and have colunteered at a few soup kitchens.
This summer I plan to volunteer at a local library for a few hours a week, and at my local hospital for about 10 hours a week. During the school year I was to enroll in FBLA club and Key Club, as well as coach youth basketball for the fall and winter (45 hours).
Next year I will be taking Honors Physics, APUSH, Honors English, and AP Economics, and was hoping to have a 4.2 by the end of junior year. My GPA has already increased .2 since the end of freshman year 3.9-4.1, and should increase as I have learned to put effort in and actually push myself academically.
Any insight or chances for the school would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
