Hey guys, I wanna know my chances for SC. I want to take a visit up, but coming from South Florida it would be costly and I don't want to waste money if I prob won't get in.

I have a 3.68 UW GPA with 11 AP and AICE classes and more honors with a strong upward trend (3.2 Freshman year).

My SAT is a 2080 (670 M, 640 R and 770 W).

My main EC's are club soccer (10 hours a week, 52 weeks a year) where I am the captain. I also have Varsity Soccer for school, was JV soccer captain one year and Varsity Golf.

I coach a youth soccer team and also volunteer in the local youth soccer for kids with special needs league.

For 3 summers, I spent 160 hours each summer volunteering at the local youth summer camp for my city.

I am also an NHS officer, surf club officer and a member of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).

I'm an AP Scholor and have received 5 school wide awards for highest achievement in that class along with a local city wide award for placing in a photography contest.

Did you apply by the merit scholarship deadline of Dec. 1. 2010? If so, there is a chance you may hear before the April 1 notification date.

Is English your second language? Did you take the ACT?

It is difficult to guess who will be admitted. We do not see your essay or couselor recommendations.

No, I didnt apply by Dec. 1 bc figured I was going to be fighting to get into the school- let alone get merit.

English is my 1st language, I just did super poorly on the Vocab part of the SAT (-8) which brought my score down a lot. I took the ACT, but only got a 29.

I know everyone says to visit before you apply, but in retrospect I kind of wish I hadn’t visited because I loved it so much and I think it might make the potential/likely rejection even harder to handle for me. You might be different, so whether or not you want to visit is really just a personal choice. The campus is beautiful and worth a visit, its just hard to leave once you get there Other than that I think you have an average chance based on what I’ve read here. Good luck!

I agree with everyone else that you are a pretty standard applicant and have a decent shot of getting in.

I applied to USC but have yet to visit because I live in NY. I plan on visiting the schools i get in to over spring break in April so that I’m not getting my hopes up about a school that I may never be accepted to.
