Do you guys think I could get into Wes? My grades are weak and I could use more awards....but I think i show that I'm really into current events and politics.....any current Wes students have any comments?

Uh...isn't it June now? and too late to take the SATs? Anyway, CR hopefully goes up, and hopefully your gpa will go up to around a 3.9 or higher weighted? btw, are those gpas weighted or not?

Can you post your AP scores and stuff?

Nice SAT IIs! Don't sweat the ECs...a lot better than most....though I wouldn't consider them enough to be a hook...

I'll reserve my judgment until you get your gpa up and post your ap scores, but you do have a shot at Wesleyan, though as for most people, it will be a reach.

P.S. How competitive is your school? Like do you know your general rank? Because right now I see the GPA as your biggest issue.

Ah sorry about the June thing....i cut and paist this from and old post (The SAT grades I posted are from the June test)

my hs is very competitive and send many students to HYPSM and the Ivies

the GPA i posted is Unweighted and my school doesnt calculate weighted(how do you do that? A+ in regents is 4...in honors 4.5...in AP 5?).....as for rank my school doesnt calculate one but i imagine im top 15-20% (based on the size of my schools NHS and the minimum required GPA).....clearly low but as i posted that largely due to low grades frosh year (i wasnt quite as mature as a i should have been frosh year...)

as for AP grades

Euro: 5
US: expected 5
Bio: expected 4 (not a good experience)
Stat: expected 5 (if im very lucky)

anyone who got into Wes have any advice?

gpa=A in normal=4, honors/ap=5.
Good ap grades!
If your weighted gpa is around 3.8, then you will be almost 75th percentile of their admits judging by sat.
I think it is definitely possible, so you should apply.

ok, so only including the big five classes....my over all GPA will either be a 4.4 or a 4.3 depending on how this year goes

Well, as I said, you match up with their profile. However, it IS Wesleyan, so not exactly guaranteed.

@PBailey. Do other schools give that many points for AP courses? God I feel really ripped off. I'm sorry for the irrelevant question, but I just wanted to know. By the way, your EC's look amazing and I think your current SAT I's will suffice for Wesleyan.

i know someone who got into wesleyan with (like you) a high but not stellar gpa--but he had really good ECs (which I think yours are too).
If you offer any sort of diversity that could help too...
I'd say go ED and the odds are in your favor

as far as diversity...im a upper middle class, half jewish, suberban kid.....

BUT

does anyone think that my family history could help me out by making my story a little more interesting?

my great grandfather was a fairly notable anarchist around the turn of the century (he was bff with Emma Goldman and what not) and after him one of my great aunts was a life long socialist and another was an organizer for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union....and my dad was a columnist for midsized newspaper for many years

would those things help...idk how id tell them that...prob not in an essay but maybe during an interview?

anyone know anything about how much a colorful family history will help?

For people from New York City, getting into Wesleyan is nearly as difficult as getting into Yale. You would have to treat it as a Reach no matter how good your ecs were.

not even close to as hard as Yale but yeah it'll be a reach

how much do people think that being Varsity track/cross country captain helps?

my final bump
