Ok, Dartmouth is my dream school.
Stats:
1440, 700 M, 740 V (I understand that this is low for non-URM/Athletes/Legacies, but I am first generation; I don't really know how this factors in, but I'm hoping that it helps).

Activities: Not gonna write a painfully long list of "Built shelters in Morocco"/"Volunteer 40 hours a week," but I have done an average amount of volunteering, involved in a few clubs, few leadership positions, etc.
My curricular vitae is about 7 pages, and I have many respectable accomplishments, but nothing that would make an adcom go O.O

Anyway, I'm applying ED. Do I have a decent chance and does first generation help at all? Thanks.

its within reach. WIll also depend on GPA and Class Rank

GPA- 4.0 UW, 4.5 Weighted
Rank- 1/98

Thanks for replying, btw ^.^

If I had to guess 75% chance+ of being accepted.

Wow. Thanks. I didn't think it was that high. :)

I say that, because it seems you are well balanced in many areas including leadership, and EC, and do a decent amount of Community Service.
Your SAT is not all that great, but you seem balanced in Math and Verbal, as compared to other students who would score an 800 and a 650.
Also you seem to be on track, as long as you stay either 1st in rank or 2nd in rank for your HS, which will definately make up for your SAT score, since many of the applicants there are often only top 3-10% (though athletics do get a break ;))

Thank you so much. Do you know if first generation helps at all?
I was also wondering if not doing an interview really hurts my chances, as I've heard that Dartmouth is big on the interview? If so, does anybody know if they contact you for the local interview or can you contact them?

You can call admissions to schedule an interview, and Dartmouth does like having the additional information--although not required.

As for being a first generation college student, it should boost your chances. Just make sure your essays and recommendations are very good to excellent. Your chances should be good, especially if you ED.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

How much does ED actually help? Do they just take the 1590s early (and the statistics show a higher chance ED because less people apply) or is it more of a "first come, first serve" basis?

a school as good as Dart, I doubt they have a "first come, first serve" process. Usually schools are looking for dedicated students, who will not swap schools after freshmen year. By applying early you are seen as a more dedicated student to the school. In some schools, if you are rejected ED pool of applicants, you may be given a second chance during the regular process.

I meant that, say, a student with a 1490 applies ED with the same EC, Comm. serv., etc., as a 1540 RD. Will the spot be "first come, first serve" for the 1490? Will that spot go to the 1490 or the 1540? Thanks for your comments. You've been very helpful. ^.^
