I was just wondering if I still had any chance to get into top colleges like UPenn (i doubt it), JHU, Stern, Dartmouth, or maybe even Carnegie Melon. Basically I slacked off for 9th and 10th grade but I think i can get my GPA in the 3.6 or 3.7 ballpark by the middle of senior year (im a junior)...basically im asking whether having a 3.6 uw GPA is an automatic turnoff to these big colleges, or if I can get really good SATs nd AP scores and still have a chance.....Does having a low GPA void out having high SAT nd AP scores and pretty good EC's and leadership positions (i have a good amount of leadership positions)?? Or do u think i still have hope if i can work hard and get good grades for the things i still have control over.

btw i take all honors and AP classes and i go to a county school which is pretty competitive....also my essay and reccomendations should be pretty good.

im pretty new to this site but dont feel bad to be honest nd rip me or nething lol

if you have great sat's, great ap's, and go to a competitive school, and have great ec's, they might disregard it, especially since you slacked freshmen year.

also many good schools dont count freshmen year.

Did you get B's, C's, D's, or what. Slacking can mean different things to different people. One D and three B's will lower your GPA about the same, but the D is clearly worse.
