Could you chance me for these schools:
Brown
Columbia
Cornell
Princeton
Georgetown
Wesleyan University
George Washington U
Bowdoin C
William and Mary
Bucknell

Well you seem like a better-qualified me:

Brown - high match/low reach
Columbia -high match/low reach
Cornell -high match
Princeton -reach
Georgetown - high match/low reach
Wesleyan University - mid/high match
George Washington U -match
Bowdoin C -high match
William and Mary - match
Bucknell -match, maybe even high safety

Assuming your math scores bump up a little.

We seem to have a few overlapping colleges on our lists. Perhaps I’ll see you there. Best of luck!

I actually disagree with AustroHungarian. I’m sorry, but I think all the ivies are pretty much high reaches. I don’t know too much about the other schools, though. It’s really helpful to look through the past results threads and see where you fall.

I’m sorry, but could you elaborate just so I know what my weakness is. Also, could you tell me what would be considered a match (what schools) in your opinion.

Your EC’s just seem really average to me! I just judge based on a holistic standpoint… I don’t know exactly what’s wrong or not! I’m just a junior, though, so I could be totally wrong!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/harvard-university/1322481-chance-junior-ivies-ill-chance-back.html#post14202722 is an example of a candidate who I would say has an amazing chance at getting in. Sorry for being so vague!

About the Ivies: for some of the most most amazing applicants, I would say Cornell is the only Ivy that could be considered a High Match. Otherwise, the rest are high reaches, and anyone who says otherwise is incorrect(no offense intended, just pointing out a fact). I also agree with bluenotebook, there is not much we can say that is wrong, it just seems like your application is average for these schools. Scores are below average(hopefully you can bring them up) and ECs are average; nothing stands out. Grades are great, but course rigor is below average. This will not hurt you because you are taking the most rigorous at your school, but your grades will not stand out because many kids do the same while taking 15-25 APs. Nonetheless, your grades are fantastic as getting that many near perfect grades is hard with any schedule.

If your scores go up:

Brown - high reach
Columbia -high reach
Cornell - reach
Princeton - high reach
Georgetown - high match/low reach
Wesleyan University - high match/low reach
George Washington U -match
Bowdoin C -high match
William and Mary - match
Bucknell -match

Brown- High Reach
Columbia- High Reach
Cornell- Reach
Princeton- High Reach
Georgetown- High Reach
Wesleyan University- High Match
George Washington U- Safety
Bowdoin C- Match
William and Mary- Match (Best school to have ever existed on the planet… that too)
Bucknell- Match

Bummppppp. Thanks all thus far

Agree that ivies are unlikely with current scores, which are well below average, and ECs. GW and down look promising.

So all the ivies are reaches, but everything else is a match?

I would say that you have a good shot at Cornell. Brown, Princeton, Georgetown, and Wesleyan are all reaches. Columbia is a high reach. They really like to have a diverse group of kids so unfortunately, being from MD does not help much. However, those other schools seem like pretty good matches for you. The one thing you could do is get your SAT scores up higher too!! Good luck!!
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1322177-chance-me-please.html

I couldn’t chance you for the colleges that aren’t ivies because those are the only ones whose admissions processes I’m well aware of. I would say that the ivies are all pretty high reaches. You have a very impressive resume, but not more so than a good portion of the other 30,000 students who will be applying to those schools… your scores are a little on the low side. I would place you at roughly the same place as me, and I got turned down from several ivies. The thing that really stands out to me is the summer cancer research internship. Most of the rest of your application is just kind of what those schools expect you to have. I think a lot of your admissions chances will depend on bringing up your scores, how good your essays and recs are (although I would assume you’ll have excellent recs), and especially what you do with that internship. Milk that for all it’s worth.
