Why is Cornell a high reach? Just curious b/c Cornell has the highest acceptance in the Ivy League.

You just don’t fit Cornell’s “profile” all to well, I will say your chances vary depending on which of their colleges you apply to. I think Cornell will be less intrigued by the things you have done …

Looking pretty good! I’d say they’re all either match or low reach, definitely all possible. Important is to show a personality, in interviews and essays they want to really know you, don’t be like every other kid who scored well, don’t be robotic and boring or predictable. I think you’ll do great. Good luck!

I’m very interested in Medical Anthropology and I plan on reflecting that in Essays, Interviews and Rec Letters from my teachers. Would this help my chances?

It certainly wouldn’t hurt. Depends where you apply, but you’d should do it because you never know.

UT Austin, USC, Georgia Tech: Low/Med Match

Good SAT (though moving it to 2300 has a pretty big holistic impact, but it’s only a few questions and it’s too late now)!

I think one big question would be…where are your SAT IIs? Dartmouth requires them and without them you’ll be rejected…do you plan on taking them next year?

Strong ECs as well, especially with the volunteer hours and the leadership. Try to do something special to end off with a BANG senior year in any one of them. Shows dedication, maturity, leadership, etc. Also, would you mind giving out the full name for your EC leadership positions before you immediately go to abbreviate them? The JWAC you’re involved in and the JWAC I think of when I see the acronym are most likely completely different organizations.

Plus for the varsity sports, upper-tier Unis really like to see involvement in a sport (pointing towards that swimming). You could also try doing EXTREMELY well next year and moving up to a state/regional competition (if possible, I know it’s not easy). Would work just as well as the “ending with a BANG” option mentioned above.

Good for the standardized awards (especially the National Merit - nice one!). Hope you make AP National Scholar, I’m in the same boat with you there. State level debate is also good. Doubt the asian magazine and the medicine journal will amount to much, but it’s nice to add, I suppose.

I don’t know what the 411 is with race these days, so I can’t comment there.

Hope I helped!

I took my subject tests during the June SAT, so I’m still waiting on my scores. I’m considering to retake my SAT to bring my reading score up because I scored a 720 the 1st time I took it.JWAC stands for Junior World Affairs Council and we were a group that attended various lectures occurring and held events to promote human rights. Through the club I’ve attended at least 15 lectures to various diplomats. Sorry for not specifying, but I was published in the National newspaper of an Asian country that has circulation to 50,000 people multiple times. I’ve gone to state in all of my ECs (except swimming), but I will try to go to the next level and win. I appreciate all the advice and chanced you back, while trying to provide helpful advice.

Your volunteer service credentials are stupid good. Absolutely ridiculously good.

Although you lack hooks, I believe you have a decent chance bc great SAT score and dedicate ECs. Just make sure you do we’ll on your SAT2s and write good essays.
