Chances with 29 ACT at Vandy?

I dont feel like posting everything I have done right now.
But do people ever get into Vandy with a 29 ACT and 4.3 Weighted GPA? Thanks!

you can honestly get in. however, it would depend on your essay, letter of recommendation and your GPA.

from Boston, MA
race: Asian (Vietnamese)

GPA: 7.97 out of 9.0 (getting a 9.0 is very rare, no one in my class has a 9.0)
SATs: 2100
SAT IIs: 720 in US History & Math I

APs: AP Chem, AP US, AP Euro, AP Calc
Honors: math (9, 10, 11) english (10,11,12)

ECs:
Assistant Sunday School Teacher (11, 12)
Athletes Serving the Community (9, 10, 11, 12)
Peer Tutor (new program) (12)
Yearbook Section Editor (12)
Rowing- coxswain (11,12)
JV Lacrosse (9,10,11)

and others but I’m too lazy to type it all out :)

Umm I believe this is someone elses thread little… And you can chance yourself. Anyway, a 29 definitely has a chance. Last year 25% of the students who submitted act had below a 30. You are fine. Just excel elsewhere!

Vandyman - did those 25% students all get in? Or is that just people who applied and not necessarily got in?

oops I thought I made my own thread. my bad

TJC747, yes, it’s the lower 25th percentile of those who were admitted.

Straight off their website:
ACT Middle 50% 30 - 34

I have a 31 and I’m doubtful about my score…

I am in the same situation! I hope we are able to get in!

Good to know. My D has a 1310 and a 29 ACT is roughly a 1300 so I’m feeling better about her chances now. Maybe it’s just a low reach and not out the question. You see so many high stats on here you begin to wonder. They say it’s not just about the numbers so hopefully that indeed is the case!

I have a 29 ACT and I got in EDII. It’s possible. :)

I got a 24, failed and then was expelled from my first year of high school. I ended up going to a ****ty college and transferring and now I’m typing this in my vanderbilt dorm. It definitely possible

With a 29 ACT, I would apply ED I or ED II. The acceptance rate this year was around 16.5% overall. Next year will be as competitive as this year. Soon they will announce the mid act/sat scores for the class of 2014 like all other colleges. Stats are not everything, but it helps. Good luck!
