Chances with a felony?

I do not know about other states, and the amount that they consider a felony, but in Virginia shoplifting over $200 is a felony, even for a minor, and even for a first offense. It STAYS on your record, even after you turn 16

Do not mention this or apply before it is expunged. I feel you will not have a chance with a felony conviction, so you want to be sure that you do not have to mention the incident at all and that is after expungement. If you apply before and are denied, which is the most likely case, you will never be allowed in. So it is worth it to take a gap year and do something meaningful with your life in that year. Think of it as part of your rehabilitation. It is worrisome that you seem dismissive of the offense.

In California when you turn 18 your record is cleared. Hopefully you’re from California and turn 19 before EA.

GUYS i have some good news. i talked with my lawyer and he told me that i do not have a conviction. although i was arrested, i was not fully convicted; i was only arrested. my placement in the expungment program indicates that i was not convicted. in court, i did not plea guilty or anything like that. the case was dropped, so i do not have to put YES for my criminal action. thanks guys for the help! i am so relieved. again guys thanks for your feedback. without it, i probably wouldn’t have consulted my lawyer

excellent. hope you learned your lesson and this doesnt ever come up again!

good luck with your applications and future!

Congrats,
