Chances With Low Gpa!

Just need quick percentage chances at these schools with a 2-year sports writing job, 1300 SAT and 3.1 GPA (Massachusetts resident), very good RECS/ESSAYS:

University of Connecticut
University of Florida - Gainesville
University of Michigan
University of Maryland - College Park
University of Arizona
Syracuse
Northeastern (father's an alum)
Notre Dame (father's an alum)

Thanks!

Any thoughts, please!?

Whats it like having 2 dads?

ND- saftey

haha, undergrad at Northeastern, law school at Notre Dame

any thoughts on the other schools please?

I am certainly no expert here... but I do pour over this website in addition to my many many college guide books... also, my son has similar specs... so I'll give it a try...

University of Connecticut - safety/match
University of Florida - match/reach
University of Michigan - match/reach
University of Maryland - match/reach
University of Arizona - safety
Syracuse - match
Northeastern - safety
Notre Dame - Don't have a clue...

Have you looked on this message board under each college? Sometimes you can find a thread where people who have gotten in discuss their stats.

You might find these links helpful as well...

Hopefully, these links will work :-)

I would also say that Syracuse is a match, UConn is a match/safety, but Northeastern is a match/reach (esp. coming from Ma.). I do not know enough about the others to comment.

bump, anyone please?

Notre Dame and Michigan are reaches.

I don't know enough about the others to comment.

Of the schools you listed, I believe the matches might be UAz, UFla, & Syracuse. The others sound tougher to get into, especially since you're a non-resident. Notre Dame is VERY selective; if your parent donates money, perhaps being an alum child would be a tip factor or more, otherwise, not sure it helps.
Northwestern is also pretty tough to get into; we're thinking it may be a reach for my son who has >3.6 gpa & 2230 SATs, but not sure.

thanks, anyone else know about these schools?

Is your SAT score new or old? That makes a huge difference...

I have a 1300 SAT, 1900 w/writing

ND is a pretty big reach, and NEU depends on the program. If arts and sciences, a solid match, but the more profession-oriented schools are much harder (and don't apply undecided)

Notre Dame and U of Michigan are reaches. Michigan looks for high unweighted GPAs based upon their criteria. Your SATs are below average for an OSS.

Any other thoughts?

HIMom, I believe Ocollegekid1 said NorthEASTERN, not NorthWESTERN... and from the stats, I don't think it's so much of a reach.

On another note, the other site I'd tried to put the link for is

http//apps.amityregion5.org/colleges/CollegeApp

which has LOTS of HS kids' stats and where they were accepted over the course of a few years (for many colleges)...a real eyeopener! Check out the stats of kids not accepted to MIT, Harvard, etc....

any other thoughts?

bump bump bump
