Chances with only 2 years of Spanish? (UCLA, Berkeley, UCI)

I am currently a junior in high school and I want to apply to UCs. I have finished Spanish 1 and 2 with solid As.

I have taken the following classes:
Biology, Alg2/Trig H, Pre-calculus, Spanish 1, Spanish 2, English 1H, English 2H, and World History H. (None of these honors are weighted).

I am currently taking:
AP US History, English 3P, AP Physics B, AP Calculus AB

I would like to take senior year:
AP Macroeconomics, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, English 4

Extracurricular Activities:
Student Government (ASB)
National Honors Society

I want to pursue Computer Science/Computer Engineering. I currently have a 4.0 unweighted. I want to take AP Statistics, but my GC recommends I take a third year of Spanish instead. Should I take her advice? Or will I be fine without the extra years of foreign language? I feel like if I have a strong GPA as well as strong extracurricular activities, then the third year shouldn't matter too much.

There is another consideration in addition to admission. For graduation, all the colleges you listed have foreign language requirements.

For example, here is a link for UC Berkeley College of Letters and Science
[Office of Undergraduate Advising: Foreign Language](http://ls-advise.berkeley.edu/requirement/fl.html)
Note you can satisfy the requirement by taking 3 years of high school foreign language with passing grades.

You can find info on all the college requirements for UCB, UCLA and UCI. For UCLA, I think you need to take a placement test unless you have AP or something like that. I think UCI is like Berkeley. Look up the info for the colleges you are interested in.

You should weight the benefits of taking a third year for graduationas well as admission.

Listen to your GC and BusyMei.

By not taking a 3rd or 4th year you are leaving a weakness in your schedule in a core area. Competitive applicants will have up to 4 years, so where will that leave you?

AP Stats is a worthwhile class but it is an elective, not a core area course. Take it or econ. Only put it in your schedule if you have room. The Spanish really should be in your schedule this year.
