Chances?? with or without CARE

I really want to go to FSU and was wondering my chances. I qualify for the CARE program and was recommended it by a close family friend. With composite test score requirements of 1390 I was hoping it would be a shoo- in for me

My GPA- 2.9
weighted- 3.5

SAT-
Math- 600
Critical Reading- 670
Writing- 550

EC-
I have sung in my church youth choir every Sunday since freshman year, and also preform in a Broadway style musical for my church.
Lastly and most important to me I am an active boy scout and Eagle Scout

Care fills EARLY. Apply asap. You could be in for summer anyway, but the support and extra counseling you get with CARE is invaluable. And NO ONE knows you are in CARE after the summer you start.

I couldn’t care less if anyone knew but I was wondering if it is easier to get into CARE then it is versus regular admission and would you rate my chances high of getting accepted into either?

To be honest, we have no idea what it takes to be in CARE. It is such a small program that my guess is that it is harder to get into. It always fills up early. I think you have a decent chance to get in with a regular admit IF you apply for summer and IF you apply early in the first admission cycle.

For GPA FSU only uses your core courses (english, math, science, social studies and language) for the GPA. They do not include electives, band, choir, drama, art, health, etc. They weight honors .5 and DE/AP/IB as 1. Your FSU GPA will be important. Here is a worksheet. It uses semester grades http://cyberguidance.net/college/recalgpa.pdf

It’s definitely not hard to get into if you meet the requirements… It’s easier. But they have a LOT of stuff that you’re required to that can have you busy from 6am-10pm (or later) for the first week or so, and you have to get a certain number of study hours in the CARE lab and/or Strozier each week. Some of the stuff they make you go to is weird… like I know they made girls learn how to put condoms on “the right way” on the 3rd night they were there.

I think applying to the care program would help you. I too met the requirements and had 4.3 weighted gps, but I didn’t let my scores and gps deter me from my desire to securing my spot at fsu b/c there are kids just as smart or smarter than we are applying as well. Just like it says online those who apply to care receive more consideration so YES I do think you should apply it gives you that extra stand out boost! I received my fsu and care acceptance yesterday hope you get in to.
