Chances with perfect grades, 45 prediction in IB and ACT score of 33? (international student)

Some quick stats:

  • Perfect grades, from freshman to senior year (all A+, not a single A)
  • Predicted 45 in the IB, with 4 HLs (including HL Maths)
  • ACT score of 33 (34 english, 33 maths, 33 reading, 31 science, 9 writing)
  • SAT subject test scores: 800 (german), 800 (french), took spanish and maths in december (probably got around 780)
  • Ranked #1 in year group
  • Lots of activities (president of 5 school clubs)
  • Summer programs, internships, volunteer work abroad, etc. (- Few people apply from my country every year)

Could I have a chance at Columbia??

it’s an holistic process so it is hard to tell but you are a very qualified candidate

IB scores are not part of the eval process. You’ve been on this site for a long time. What do YOU think your chances are at Columbia?

Not commenting on chances, but I’d like to point out that IB “predicted” scores are just that… predicted. You never know how they might turn out.

There is really no way to chance an applicant to Columbia – the school has an acceptance rate of about 6% and which has to turn down many well qualified applicants.

US colleges do not use predicted IB scores as part of the eval process. And actual IB scores come out too late to assist in the process.

I don’t understand posts like this. What kind of answer are you expecting? you’ve had PERFECT grades, are the valedictorian, and have an ACT that’s in the 99th percentile. of course you have a chance; you’re within their academic range, but if all you’re concerned about is your academic performance i doubt you’re going to be interesting enough to distinguish yourself from the thousands of other applicants with similar scores (give or take).

I’d understand someone with a 3.7 GPA with great extracurriculars or someone with a 1580 SAT and a 3.5 GPA having a chance me thread, but this is a little ridiculous.

agree ^

Sorry y’all going to Yale!!
