Chances with so-so grades? Rising Junior. Recommendations??

I'm struggling, What can I do?

I'm going to be an upcoming Junior next year ing high school. I never took my grades as seriously until now. I really want to go to a college or university. Obviously not an Ivy League or private college since my grades are horrible and I can't afford it. I'm willing to go to any college. These are my grades:

Freshmen:

English l A-A
Spanish l A-B
Human Geography AP C-C
*** A-A
*** B-A
Algebra l B-A
Biology l B-B

Sophomore:

Honors Geometry C-C
Spanish ll C-B
Honors Chemistry l C-C
*** A-A
Honors English ll B-B
World History AP C-B
***A-A

I actual tried freshmen year but AP Human was a struggle for me despite how easy everyone think it is. Sophomore I was disappointed when I saw my grades and didn't try as hard as I usually did.

Community service: Over 50 hours

I did not do any sports this year. And I'm only in one club; Key Club. Some clubs were dropped because there wasn't enough kids signing in.

Junior Year:

English lll AP
French ll
Honors Chemistry ll
Anatomy & Physiology
Algebra ll
Psychology AP
American History AP

*** = Electives

Goals: I'm joining the girl's golf team and lacrosse next year. I'm also planning on getting a higher GPA so I can get into NHS and I'm going to join Debate and Model UN.

And this summer I'm going to do at least 50 hours of community service so I can get 100 hours before Junior year. I also want to get a 2100 on my SAT and take the SAT ll in Math l, Chemistry and English before senior year. I'm going to attend the SAT prep.

So what do you think can I still have a chance? What can I do to improve?

Please Help.

What state do you live?

IF you can get those grades up, add, or found(which is even better), more EC’s, perform well on the SAT and SAT IIs, win some awards from some kind of academic competition like Science Fair or USABO then you definitely have a shot at Top 25 colleges. Good luck!

I live in FL :)

Thank you! You’re really positive. :)

FSU
UCF
USF
UF- Reach

UF as a reach?
IF you go to the link I’m providing you can see that if Elderberry gets a GPA of at least 3.6 and an SAT above 2100 her chances are pretty good, especially as she is an in-state student.
[University of Florida - GPA and Test Scores Needed for Admission](University of Florida: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA)
Keep in mind that colleges like upward trends and that if the OP manages to take 3 APs Junior year and get As/Bs in them that would set her aside from most UF applicants. Coupled with good letters of recommendation and essays I’d place OP’s chances of admission to UF at 80% if she does most of what I outlined in post 3.

Thank You! I looked at the Link. You definitely helped my confidence. I’m going to try score high on my SAT and SAT ll and get awards and recommendations. ^^ I’m also going to keep improving my grades.

You definitely have great chances with a positive attitude and newfound determination. Your course load seems relatively tough (although I cannot say that confidently because I do not know your school’s rigor). If you can get your SAT score above a 2100 and have solid ECs, you’ll most likely get into all top Florida state schools.

Find activities that you are passionate about during this next year and WORK HARD. Anything is possible. Best of luck!
