Did you apply for summer?

I’m in the same boat as you except your GPA’s are slightly better than mine. Have you shown improvment? I went from a 2.0 student to holding a 4.1 GPA in my senior year with AP courses. You don’t have any EC’s though which isn’t too good.

I would say raise the ACT! Oh and if you take or have taken rigorous courses then you might have a chance at summer! Good luck!!

did you get in blue?

Not yet. I applied for the summer about two weeks ago. Of course I am hoping to get in automatically for the summer, but I’ll take getting deffered until my semester grades come out. I know I will do well so it will look great for me since I focused so much on my improvment in my essay.

Don’t be too pessimistic, my roommate got in for summer term with a 20 ACT. The GPA is on the low side, however. I think they’re gonna defer you, but that just means that if you do well this semester and send in your mid-year grades, then you should be fine. Perhaps re-take the ACT also? Unless you’ve already taken it several times, I would take it again. I would’ve probably tried to raise the ACT score a little THEN send in my application.

Mizzxvii, since you seem to know what you’re talking about, can you give me my chances? I posted a little about myself on the thread about the summer term.

Haha, don’t take my word for it, I’m just giving my two cents based on my experience from last year when applying. Just wait it out kiddies I don’t wanna bring your hopes up to only get them crushed and at the same time, I don’t wanna tell someone that you’re not gonna get accepted cause I truly don’t know what the admissions committee thinks.

Yeah I know. It’s always hope for the best, expect the worst though. I just could use a little insight from someone who has some experience.

If i apply for summer, do i have to take classes during summer term because Im trying to avoid that?

Yes, you’ll have to take at least two classes over the summer. For some people its summer or nothing though. Its not that bad, term b is only a month and will help you get into the swing of things, not the mention ahead of the other freshman :)

You will be differed or rejected with those stats. An ACT of 20 is very very low and only would get by if your GPA was much better. I suggest you try to take the December ACT because just two more points would make a difference. Also, apply for summer. If you did really well this quarter, send UCF a copy of your report card (that worked for someone that I know) and of course, send your midyear transcript. If you are admitted for summer, you take classes during summer B (late June until after the first week of August). You may be admitted for Pegasus or SOAR during summer. These are conditional admittance programs where you go summer and if your do OK, then you are in for fall (they are conditional programs for low achiever/high promise kids).

ucf123 with your stats you have no choice but summer and even that might be a stretch sorry…as long as you applied early you may have a shot with higher test scores

Summer term really isn’t bad at all. I never considered going for summer term, but I did, and it was an interesting experience. You only take two classes, so just take two fun classes regardless of what your adviser says. They will try to load you up with Math or Science classes and it’s dumb to do so. I don’t think they should ‘advise’ first year freshmen students that got accepted due to lower scores to take on harder academic classes that were meant to be 16 wks, but condensed to 6 wks. You really need to get a feel of what college is like and get used to the transition before taking those kinda classes over the summer. I’d suggest you take something lighter… like an elective along with perhaps a psychology/sociology class or something of that kind, since it is required to have those credits anyways.

I do agree with Seiclan. I don’t know if you can still sign up for the ACT, but even if you have to pay for the late fee, I would still do it. Two points really does make a difference and it could either make you or break you.

Good luck!
