Chances?

Hi! I'm a senior just starting to sort of freak out about college admissions..Kenyon's my top choice, so I'd appreciate any sort of input on whether or not I've got a chance at admission/scholarships. Also, I haven't been able to visit or really show interest because of financial issues..I live about 9 hours away. Thanks!

Me:
white female, fairly competitive public school (we send at least a few kids to an Ivy each year)
I intend to major in Political Science, if that matters..

GPA: 3.4 weighted, top ~11% of the class (I didn't get serious about school until last year..)
Scores: 720 CR, 650 M, 800 W = 2170; ACT 32, writing 30
760 USH subject test, 700 Lit subject test
AP: English Lang: 5, Stats: 4, USH: 4

I'm in a math and science magnet program (weird, because English is my best subject), I completed two independent scientific research projects, won state-wide awards for research papers each time.

-Spend a summer teaching at-risk youth about science
-Worked with Relay for Life through the Science National Honors Society
-Volunteered for the school wide community service project each year (raising money, counting/boxing cans, etc.)

Recommendations were amazing, my essays should be solid--writing is my strong suit; my main essay is about the summer I spent teaching science

Again, thank you!

I would say you have a fairly decent chance. From what I have heard and read about admissions, you seem like a strong candidate. The only imperfection I can see is your GPA, but then again everything else seems excellent. I wish you luck :)

Thank you!
Yeah, my GPA is a little rough, but I’m hoping the fact that it has risen astronomically since last year should make a difference…

i’d say you have a decent chance. Your GPA is a little weak, especially if it’s weighted but your class rank is unusually high for your GPA so i’m guessing an A at your school means more than an A somewhere else. You say your writing is good, solid. Make it great. Kenyon rates writing skills very high. Also give your application some type of spin. i see none here and that will hurt your chances at admission. You’re a risk applicant and risk applicants need, need, need some type of hook.

If you let them know that Kenyon it your top choice, you’ll get in.

I recently visited Kenyon and fell in love with the campus and programs offered. I had an interview that seemed to go good, except I was a bit nervous and shy. However, I did express my interest in the college. Currently Kenyon is my top choice. I have 3.9ish unweighted, 4.1 or something weighted gpa.

I got 29 on ACT, and for SAT: 650 Critical Reading , 630 Math, and 670 writing.

I participated in a debate style club (JSA) freshman year (continued through all 4 years, but forgot to check all boxes before sending common app), played in a synth/garage band in the large city I live by since 7th grade (including charity shows), served 30 hours service over summer, have approx 100 total hours service, no work experience, one excellent recommendation and one good. Still working on my essays for 1/15 because i’ve been drained lately from cramming for other college deadlines, but they should be good. Do I possibly have a chance of being accepted?
