what are my chances

pretty good chance in my opinion, did u say u plan to apply early or regular?

im applying regular

although i thought about early but the admissions officer at my local info session said that because im not top 5% of my class that i should apply regular

yea i noticed that, otherwise in my opinion, u'd be great for early but that might jump out at them. Ur courses taken are a bit confusing but i guess that is just becuase they are defined by ur school and i may know them by something else

i guess you dont go to an IB school (thats a good thing)

project advance is a syracuse university program and the classes are the equivalent of the freshman writing seminar at syracuse.

i'll take your word for it, mind telling me what an IB school is anyways?

IB = International Baccaulareate or however you spell it- program which is mostly big in Europe but starting to catch on in the states. Replaces AP (I didnt do it because I am in the Academy of Finance, which is even rarer than IB) but also includes 150 CAS (community service but idk what that stands for) hours and a 3000 word extended essay. You take 3 HL (higher level) and 3 SL (standard level) tests (or 4 and 2 if you are crazy) and each is scored out of 7. there are 3 bonus points in the diploma for TOK (theory of knowledge) and your extended essay, so the highest IB diploma you can get is a 45, which would put you in a select group of less than 1000 worldwide. the six classes must be 1 math, 1 science, 1 social studies, 1 language A, 1 language B (foreign) and one elective (music, economics, any other IB, as long as you have 3 SL and 3 HL). Add up all test grades + 3 bonus points to get max of 45. Anything 24 or above (4 on every test) and you get the IB diploma. haha hope that helped

northport '06 (non IB)

nope but thats fine i guess i dont need to know

bump... does anyone else have any opinions?

ur from northport? im from Harborfields, and i now i know im probably not get in cuz ur stats kick mine in the buttox

yea go northport haha

were you at the info session at chaminade?

yup, the admissons guy was awesome. he really made me fall in love with nd even more. Im really going to breakdown when i get my rejection letter.

yea he moved it up to 2nd on my list (im EDing to Duke)

by the way what are your stats?

95 wieghted GPA im probably around 12% in my class of 200ish, our school just ranks by deciles.

i can't really think of anymore to write right now so this is basically it. i really don't compare with a lot of the people posting chances on this board which is rather depressing

those stats are respectable

4 on ap chem very impressive, i miss that class haha

how is ap physics going?

physics is going well, our teacher is new though so i really don't know how well my class will do on the ap. i also miss chem, the experiments were so cool, the ones in physics are booorring.

yea we have an amazing teacher for ap physics, been here for 20 years, graduated 3rd in his class at northport back in the day and went to cornell. i also had him for honors last year which helps. first 2 tests have been insanely curved (55 went to an 88 last test), but so far its ok i have a 99 and 97 but getting harder

no fair, i really don't think our teacher is so bright, all he says is damnn and u guys are madd smart. He claimes to be a national chess champion but im not too sure about that.
I had no idea northport was so big, i always figured it was the same size as harborfields.
