hi i am an international student
since grade 8 i have had stellar academics, 4.0 gpa, professional dance, debated at an international level, employment, internships, and hours and hours of community service
however in grade 12 i injured myself
i was wondering how would universities look at my application in regards to my circumstance.

… what does I injured myself mean?
were you not able to go to school for an extended amount of times?
I personally think colleges would be very considerate to things that’s beyond your control, so I’m sure they’ll understand.
Plus senior grades aren’t that important anyways.

yes i injured myself and was not able to go to school for three months…
i am applying to many of the ivy leagues and top schools like usc and ucla so i am wondering how considerate they would still be because it is competition in the end, and they can only be so sympathetic

lol that’s the first time I heard USC being mentioned as a “top school”
it’s like my safety XD
But that aside, what kind of school do you go to, an international school? or are you just a student in the US without citizenship or greencard?

And did the three months out of school affected your grades majorly? were you able to make those three months up?
I personally think if your grades didn’t not suffer dramatically and you were able to catch up, this might be an advantage for you. Since the colleges might sees this as you overcoming a challenge in life effectively.

i go to school in canada and im a canadian citizen. my school is very well recognized amongst top schools.

yah the three months out of school got me an ‘in progress’ and a councilors letters explaining the entire situation very well and really promoted me greatly.

that is where my concern lies. what will universities think of this situation. are they more reluctant to say no or actually consider my application?

I sees no reason why colleges would make a big deal out of this matter.
So what if you have an “in progress”, you have already proven yourself from the past, and they have no justification in denying you admission based on something that is beyond your control. That’s like a single person if third impact suddenly happened in lower Manhattan <.<
