Chances?

Hello everybody.

I am a junior who has just started his first semester. I have been thinking about UT for quite some time now, and am taking my SAT's later this year.

For those who know UT well, can u tell me my chances(havent taken SAT yet tho)

Academics:
Male half jewish-half asian from New York
Junior in (dont mean to act snobby) very, very prestigious high school in Northeast.
My school doesnt give GPA's, but i get B/B+ on every one of my classes, however i usually finish with A's in Math and/or japanese.

Math courses taken: Agebra 1, Geometry, Algerbra II.
Science courses taken: Biology, Chemistry.
Languages taken: 3 years of japanese, and a minor in italian.
Three years of English under my belt.
Three years of History (Atlantic world history, two years of American history).
I will also be taking one AP in American or European history.

Extracuricculars:
2 years of drawing of painting, two years of photography, one year history of jazz.
2 years of JV track, 2 years of JV baseball- ill try out for varsity on these teams when the time comes.
3 Year writer for school newspaper.
3 year member of debate team and Asian awareness club.

I dont know if that is enough, but i felel that Ut fits me really well; a big school, kick-ass football team (college football is a passion of mine), great student newspaper, and a really awesome city in Austin.

anyone know if i have good chances?

It's tough luck out of state most of the time...only 5% OOS. Do you really want to go to a school with 95% Texans? Wait to see what u get on the SAT/ACT

yeah, i kinda do want to go to a place full of Texans.
different atmospher than snotty liberal ppl from the northeast lol

UT is a liberal campus...

I know top10% rule applies for people instate, Im not sure if its more competitive for out of staters but my guess is you should be near 10% or higher.

Research Texas A&M, their campus is all-around friendly

I think UT's liberal nature is overrated...AUSTIN is liberal but UT is very moderate, with people from both sides of the spectrum from all over the state - you can find people you identify with no matter what.

okay, so UT is fairly close to center, am i right?

but say i got to Texas, how would a northerner like me fit in. I mean, i am really into partying and drinking, but i also take my schoolwork very seriously too. how would someone like that fit in?

if your school doesnt rank....and your SAT arnt amazing, im sorry to say you probalby wont get in.....not many out of state student places, and from the ones that are open, you usually need to have a pretty high SAT score

schools like texas tech and texas a&m would probalby be much easier to get into if you really want to come down to texas....and those schools are much less liberal

There are also many good private schools in Texas...Dallas has SMU, San Antonio has Trinity, Houston has Rice, Ft. Worth has TCU, and Waco has shudder Baylor.

I can't blame you for wanting to live here :) Just make sure you go home or get an out-of-state internship during the summer because otherwise we will have to clean up your melted Northern booty! haha
