Dartmouth ED (Attended Dartmouth Debate Institute during the summer before Junior year)
Georgetown
Amherst
Williams
University of Chicago
Reed

Would like to debate in college. I prefer rural/suburban over city, but it would not make my decision.
Any recomendations concerning possible/listed shools would be excellent.

I think you have a pretty good chance at all your schools. You have great test scores and a lot of activities that you have shown dedication to. Do you have a favorite school?
And to the above poster, alot of the time, Jesuit schools are very different from other Catholic schools. At least, at my school, most people could care less if you believe in God.

pick 2 of the above at random: my prediction is you will be rejected from 2 because admissions are random...but you have done everythign right (and legacy...) so that you have a great shot at all these schools.

It's not like I a fundamentalist or attend church weekly, and I see no problem with attend Reed coming from a Jesuit school. Isn't college about opening up to new perceptions and people?

My favorite would be Dartmouth, but I wouldn't say no to Stanford.

I was just basing on the fact that you had won awards for your writings on theology.

Jesuit schools are still Catholic, they are just the educated ones. The Marionists are the do-gooders in society. Personally, I haven't expierenced either so I wouldn't know. (I was just comparing Xavier University and Dayton)

Might want to add Duke also if looking for a safety try Holy Cross-Jesuit school that offers merit aid in Latin/Classics. Duke like Stanford has a great campus. Dartmouth-very long winters.

Your chances look pretty good at all the schools you listed. At least as good as anyone else's could be. Your scores are impressive and legacy probably puts you in at Standford.

I hated Duke's campus, but if you like rural/suburban it probably be a good fit. If you moved Duke to Boston it would be great, but i didn't like durham at all.

I visited Duke and disliked the campus as well. The student body was also unwelcoming compared to my interactions at other colleges.

Thank you for your input. I appriciate the consideration. The more I look at Dartmouth, the more I like it, but "G-town" is amazing as well.

I am ambivalent towards Stanford, because the idea of getting in because of my parents and relatives seems to devalue all the work I have done.

what are you planning on majoring in? how good were your essays? and where were your poetry/short stories published? those are also some determining factors.

Philosophy (in the highly unlikely event of this changing, it would be to English/Anthropology/Psychology)

The quality of the essays is so subjective, but I, along with my teachers, GC, and some qualified extended family, thought they were excellent.

The publishings, I will have to look up. My English teacher asked for a portfolio and submitted the ones he thought were best, and the acceptances came from several different organizations. He has the free copies of the books in his classroom.

I can't believe this thread got revived after so long.
