Anybody? Please.

This might be kind of late, sorry but if you haven’t received an acceptance letter, they are missing out on you. Im from MIA and might be transferring there. Some things you should know: Some people say FIU sucks and that is full of Cuban people and their main language is “spanglish”… well there is a lot of latinos so don’t be surprised but is not that bad. IMPORTATN! it is a huge school so get involved and get noticed! some people say you are just a number but its only if you want to be! Good things about FIU: the business school is like top notch (for real!) and my prof gave me an article about it and how it is becoming an up and coming U in the south east. Hope it helps

I think Violeta gave you some good information. I live in the next county over just up the road from FIU and I have to tell you that many of the kids I know are much happier at FAU (in Boca Raton) than at FIU (in Miami). With you being from Alabama you might experience culture shock at FIU. It is located on SW 8th Street in Miami (at 117 Ave.) and the Spanish language is a huge part of this community. It is a commuter school and the place empties out at the end of the day and on weekends. Sororities, in particular, find this to be a disadvantage in planning activities that would be considered by many to be part of the typical college experience.

As well, you have another option in Nova Southeastern University. It is a private school in Ft. Lauderdale. Lots of new buildings and dorms. This school tends to attract kids from up north that would like to be in South Florida but do not have the stats for the University of Miami.

Another option is University of Central Florida in Orlando and University of South Florida in Tampa. I am not sure how you stack up in terms of stats as an out of state student.

Good luck!

I’ve only been in Alabama for eight months. I was born in Miami. I’m basically looking at all the schools in Florida so I can go back home lol.

Ok then…You know the area around SW 8th Street & 117 Ave. You should also be familiar with FIU and what they have to offer. Most of the kids around here shoot for UF, FSU, or UCF. Many go to FIU and stay at home. At my job, there are a number of FIU grads and they seem to do quite well. You should be fine.

Good luck!

You’ll get in for sure. They accept everybody.
