Hey!
I'm a senior in a public high school in Pennsylvania.
The schools that I am looking at are:
Carleton College (ED)
Pittsburgh
Bates
Bowdoin
Kenyon
Dartmouth
Williams
I visited every school on the list except Pitt.

My unweighted GPA is a 90.2% (up from 87% at the end of my sophomore year). I am ranked 50 in my class of 271. I have taken the hardest load at my high school with lots of aps. Last year I took AP US History and AP language and Comp. and scored 4s on both of the tests. I am enrolled at Messiah College and taking classes along with my high school curriculum.

My SAT scores are 760 CR, 750 W, 680 M
SAT II: 730 US History, 630 Lit

EC activities:
-Boy Scouts 9-12- Eagle Scout, Senior Patrol Leader, Order of the Arrow
-Debate 9-12- Treasurer (11), Captain (12) 600 NFL points, too many awards to list, 5th in state, finalist for Pennsylvania High School Speaker of the Year. We lost our coach last year and I pretty much run the team.
-National History Day 9-12- 3rd in Nation in 2002, 3rd in state 2003 and 2004, state finalist 2005. National Constitution Center award 2003
-Quiz Bowl 11-12- Captain(12), compete in weekly league and appear on tv show
-Work: 10 hours/week 9-10, 20 hours/week 11-12
-Other ecs: volunteering (hundreds of hours), Political campaigning, Voice of Democracy, Science Fair, Yearbook, Scholastic Writing, stock market game, church committees, Center for Youth Leadership in Law and Government.

My essays and short answers are pretty incredible (my completely biased opinion). They made English teachers laugh and cry. From what I have seen and heard, my letters of recommendation are awesome. They talk about me running a debate team without a coach and my "unmatched" enthusiasm for learning.

If anybody can, please give me an idea what my chances are of being accepted to each of the colleges. Thanks!

my friend got into carleton ed last year, her sat was almost identical to urs. except i think she was in the top ten percent tho, except my school doesnt give rankings so it might not have made a difference. ec's are pretty good, i think u got a good shoot at carleton, so dont worry too much about the rest

I think you've got a shot at all of them... however, you definitely need a safety or two. Just put some in the back of your head and hold on to them incase Carleton falls through...

Thank You everybody who has responded. I dont know how important it is but I also want to furnish people with my opinions of how my interviews went. The Carleton interview was incredible as it took more than an hour and a half and my interviewer had remarkably similar ecs as I did. He wrote me a personalized letter in response to my thank you note. I also had very good interviews at Bates, Kenyon and Dartmouth. At Bowdoin, I did not really click with the admissions counselor and the entire process seemed too formulaic.

In response to Trader, I did not want to see them but two of my three teachers asked me if they could write them and told me what they were going to talk about.

First of all, you should most definitely be in at pittsburgh, so there's a safety for you.
Dartmouth and Williams are the two that i see you having the most trouble with, but with Dartmouth, like all Ivys, admissions are pretty much a crapshoot. Those two would be reaches for you.
I dont know much about carleton or Bates, but ur Early decision should help you out. I see Bowdoin and Kenyon as basically matches, ur gpa is a little on the low side, but you have a great EC list to balance it out. Oh BTW are you a URM? If you are a urm, then that fat envelope is pretty much signed sealed and delivered, but if not, u are at a disadvantage, unfortunately. Hope this helped
