Very good extracurrcular and all around stats, but, unfortunately, you SAT simply does not cut it for OSS. Sorry, not to be curt or anything, but I know couple of OSS every year who gets rejected even though they got 2300. Every thing else they had looks amazing. So my suggestion is to pull your SAT up to at least 2200 and maintain everything else, good luck.

I’d take the SAT comment with a grain of salt. To be fair, I agree that it is probably in your best interest to get that score a little higher, BUT, shortly after ED decisions came out this year, I lurked around the stats people posted just out of curiosity (my offspring - I am being intentionally vague here as I am hypersensitive about keeping under the radar, though it is worth noting that my offspring is genderless as it is actually a robot! - was admitted in state w/ similar SATs and extracurriculars, though offspring’s GPA was a little higher), and I was surprised that many of the OOS students admitted had SATs on par with yours (and “it’s” ). This did not fit my perceptions about OOS admissions at UNC. No doubt, most OOS scored higher, but you are by no means out of the game.

I truly believe they take a holistic approach. I also truly believe there’s an element of random luck (I think admissions would be the first to tell you that “yes, we reject some who probably should not be rejected and admit some who probably should not have been admitted”). Anyway, I just don’t want you to be discouraged. I get a kick out of the uber-driven view of many on CC where people think a score of < 2300 is mediocre. Sorry to them, but 2070 is excellent :-)

I’d take the act and the sat again to be safe. Your stats are pretty good, about what I had and I was accepted oos. You have strong ecs which is a plus. Just make sure your essays are really good and that you express strong interest in what you want to do and the university. Just know there’s no score that can guarantee your admission. It really depends a lot on how you present yourself. There are a ton of kids who apply, you just have to stand out.
