Chances???

That 3.75 and SAT might take you out of the running for most of those schools. But you have an ok shot at some slightly lower tier schools.

Providence- match
Northeastern- high match
University of South Carolina (International Business)- low reach
Boston University- reach
Rhodes- match
Bucknell- low reach
Wake Forest- high match
NYU (chance for CAS, Stern, and Gallatin)- high reach
Lehigh- reach
Georgetown- high reach
University of Southern California- high reach
Claremont McKenna College- high match
University of Michigan (business)- reach
Emory- reach
UVA- high reach
William & Mary- reach

No way are Boston or Lehigh reaches if Wake Forest is a high match, she has a great shot at Boston especially. 2080 isn’t even that bad of a score to take her out of the running for all of these schools. Nor is 3.75. And she will take/took 75% of the offered APs, so class rigor certainly doesn’t negatively change how people should like at her GPA.

yea born2dance94 I agree with Tenors. While I do value your opinion, its a tad extreme. I don’t want to sound cocky but Providence was going to be my safety school. Tenors do you think you could chance me for all of those schools? It would be greatly appreciated.

When you ask an adcom officer if they prefer you to get Bs in all honors classes or As in all regular classes, their answer is always “As in all honors classes.”

Yeah Providence would likely be a safety. Sorry I was basically just doing match and reach. But yeah you should be in at Providence barring any unforeseen problems.

And Northeastern would likely be more of a match because of your SAT. But I still stand by everything else. Boston might be a low reach but it’s definitely a reach nonetheless.

I was looking at Naviance, the average GPA for kids from my school accepted from Lehigh is around an 86-87% on average. My GPA is around a 92%. Also the Northeastern average accepted SAT score for my school is an 1893. So I think that the prestige of my school has a lot to do with acceptance as well because we are known for sending college ready students.

bump bump…

I don’t like chancing, especially because I just made a chance thread for Rutgers Pharmacy and I’ve always found it weird to chance people after asking to be chanced… but I’ll tell you now that you’ll get into at least 30% of your schools worst case scenario. I think you can differentiate the thirty from the seventy yourself.

You’ve got four months until October - study the SAT. A 1500 on CR + Math is money for Georgetown (not a guaranteed admission, but a very nice boost). You’re at 1390, get those 110 points if you can.

And you might as well apply for EA Georgetown. Although I think stewta’s right, too.

thanks Tenors! I think I will definitely end up doing one of the two but I need to summer to think it over. I have already started working to boost my SATs, so fingers crossed I can get that 1500.

bump bump bump

bump bump bump bump

UVA and Georgetown are going to be difficult!

William & Mary i think you have a great shot at going to.

I only know these 3 because i know people who have applied, been denied, been accepted and wait listed.

In my opinion:
Lehigh: Match
UVA: High-reach (b/c you’re OOS)
USC: High-match/low-reach
Emory: Low-reach
Georgetown: Mid-reach
William and Mary: Low-reach

I took this off of the NYU page on Collegeboard:
Middle 50% of First-Year Students
SAT Critical Reading: 610 - 710
SAT Math: 630 - 740
SAT Writing: 620 - 720

I’d say you’re in pretty decent shape for NYU. An average GPA for NYU is a 92 or 3.7, which is what you have. Stern would be harder to get into.

Providence - target/match/approaching safety
Northeastern - target/match/approaching safety
University of South Carolina (International Business) - target/match/approaching safety
Boston University- target/match
Rhodes - target/match
Bucknell - target/match
Wake Forest - target/match
NYU (chance for CAS, Stern, and Gallatin)- target/match for CAS
Lehigh - target/match
Georgetown - target/match (I know people are going to debate me on this but the middle 50% for Math is 650 - 750 and CR is 640 - 740)
University of Southern California - target/match
Claremont McKenna College - low reach
University of Michigan (business) - target/match/approaching safety
Emory - target/match
UVA - target/match/approaching safety
William & Mary - target/match/approaching safety

This is what I’m going to say, and I know people on CC are going to disagree with me, but I really think you have a good shot at all those schools. I know on CC people can get a little obsessive and believe that you need a 2100+ to get into just a decent school, but the facts are the facts, and you’re SAT score is very, very, VERY good as it is, and I’m sure it will go up if you take it again and practice some more. You took a lot of APs and Honors, which colleges like to see, and since you’re GPA isn’t weighed, it’s fine. Plus you have a good amount of ECs so that’s good too. The only schools that would really be a reach for you are the Ivies and maybe some other very top schools. And those are reaches for everyone. Plus, if you get you’re SAT higher than 2100, you’d have a good shot at those schools too.

You can use this, straight off Collegeboard, to compare your SATs to what the school accepted. [College Search - Find colleges and universities by major, location, type, more.](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

By the way, you guys are thinking it’s much harder to get into NYU than it really is. Anyone with a 1900 and 92 average is likely to get in. I would know since about 30 students from my school go there every year.

By the way, you replied to my thread, but didn’t chance me. So, can I get a chance back? Thanks =]

Thanks! that helps a lot. the only ones I am not sure of on your list are UVA and William & Mary since I am out of state, so I think that will affect me a lot.

Hey guys just got my SATiis back. I got a 730 on Bio and a 740 on Math II. Do you think those scores are good or should I retake them?

Your stats leave something more to be desired, but I think you can do a lot of these schools by pushing the right ECs. Highlight the kids camp and community service, and Model UN. Retake SAT I for a 2200+, you have time, and try and get all As this sem. That, with great recs and essays, gets you

Match- William & Mary, Lehigh, University of Virginia (high), USC (really high/low reach(
Emory and Georgetown are reaches, but not out of the way.

Good luck, and I would appreciate a chance as well! :D

thanks diplomonad1!! Does anybody know how selective the Gallatin school is at NYU, and if so can you chance me for it. Still accepting regular chances! Also if you have other recommendations for schools please tell me!
