Chances?

I'm going to be a senior this fall, and plan on applying early decision as GW is my first choice. I do not need any financial aid.

GPA: 3.75 weighted, probably 3.5 unweighted
SAT: 660 verbal, 660 writing, 660 math = 1980
SAT II: 720 on US, 680 on Lit
ACT: 30 composite, plan on retaking in September after extensive prep
Courses: Almost all honors courses, two AP's, 3 on the AP Euro and 4 on AP US, mostly A's and B's with one C+ in an honors math course (not a math person)
Class Rank: Top 15%, maybe Top 10% (will have to check when the school releases our official ranks) was last ranked 31 out of 275 in a well-ranked public school

Three sport varsity athlete, many honors in Lacrosse (top player in area, many top division 1 offers but I'm not interested in collegiate athletics)
Helped start our area's first ever girls ice hockey league, captain of that team

Member of National Honors Society and French Club

Volunteer as a Big Sister for Big Brother Big Sister program, plan on writing about either this or starting girls hockey in my essay

Have two very good teacher recommendations (will have to choose one for the application), one talks about how on the first day of class, when our teacher asked us to draw a cow, I drew a hamburger.

What are my chances, and what can i do to improve them? Is the interview important, and should I do one?

Thanks

I think you’ll get in. If you live close enough, I think you should schedule an interview on campus if possible, but if you’re far away, it wouldn’t be a dealbreaker to skip it, especially if you are applying early. This gets said a lot here: write a very GW specific “why GW” essay.

Agree with Schmohawk - Interview if possible. I’d say you’re in - especially since you’re applying ED require no FA.

CJ

anyone else? besides great essays and a solid interview, is there anything else that can boost my chances?

The likely reason you’re not getting any other posts is obvious with your stats. Move on and complete your senior year, interview, good essays and that’s it!

Keabie, all the replies seem appropriate but it is not in the bag. I agree that a good essay would help and try to bring your SATs up a little. Everything depends on the pool of applicants but you appear to be right there. Good luck.
