Chances?

Hey guys! I'm going to be a senior this year and I really want to go to State and James Madison College. I go to a large public school in Michigan

GPA: 3.63
ACT: 27
EC's: 3 years varsity hockey, 2 years National Honor Society with over 30 volunteer hours.
I've taken several advanced courses, honors courses and one AP course.
I got a really good letter of recommendation from one of my English teachers.
If it makes any difference, my brother currently goes to State.

Thanks!

You’re definitely in! Just make sure to keep your grades up senior year. They revoked 30 acceptances this summer! Go green :)

Looks good. Apply early :)

Thanks guys. I’m just a little nervous for some reason. Also, MSU requires an essay as part of the application, however, under the freshmen admissions criteria, it doesn’t say that the essay is used in admissions. What’s the deal?

Oh, one last thing. If I apply as soon as the application comes out, how long should it take to get a decision?

When I applied last year the essay was optional. Maybe that’s why it’s not listed on the criteria? And also, I applied in September and heard back in less than two weeks.

Do you guys know when the application should be out? It should be soon right?

I think early to mid September.

So i submitted my application the other day, and I got an email from Docufide saying that my school isn’t sending transcripts out until mid September. Will this be an issue for admissions, or will I just not find out my decision until October?

It won’t be an issue for admissions. No high school I know of sends out transcripts before mid-September so yours will be one of the first applications that they read :)

That’s good to hear, thanks!

High schools do send out transcripts before mid-september (at least mine did). But don’t worry, the earliest admissions decisions are made/sent out by the beginning of October, not any earlier.
