As an International not asking for Financial Aid, what chances do I stand at CAS?

callthecops2, i believe your app will make for an interesting read. and whoa! you're not applying for aid?? cool. was cornell your first choice? if so, you should've applied ED!!

i'm also on gap year, applying to corn RD.....

if you think you there is room for improvement, i'd definitely consider retaking the subject tests. and since you're self-studying aps currently, i'd suggest you take math2 and phy alongside world history in december to highlight your involvements in those subjects, and i'm sure you'd do really well. you can always add the 2 subjects on test day. cb will bill you [credit card or paper bill] after...

and if possible in january, try to retake the sat1. i personally think that there's always room for improvement in everything...

this is not to say that admissions depend on standardised test scores. pas du tout. overall, i think you're a very interesting applicant who will catch their attention....

btw, are you thinking of dual degree across CAS and CEAS?

pardon, this is off the subject, personal: do you speak a norwegian language fluently, as well as english and spanish?

I plan on taking SAT I in Jan. and SAT II World History in Dec. I can read and write perfectly well all the languages I know, but I speak Spanish and Norwegian a bit slowly.

I plan on majoring in Econ in CAS, and Cornell is not my first choice. Princeton was, is, and will be :D

oh great. then i guess you must have ED'd pton. [we're you the one who was rejected last year?]

i was too. took the application with too much levity, applied a week after deadline. don't think i'm reapplying again, tho'. cornell is my top choice....

....native lang. "Yoruba", guess that's not counted as a 'for lan', lol. taking french sat2 in december (studied 9 yrs in school). yeah, taking conversation and intensive courses [10hrs/wk] to polish speaking, which is perhaps even more important than writing, tho the writing/grammar is what will give you the perfect sat2 score! and also learning German at an amazing pace!!

thinking of double majoring in civil eng. and international studies [combo of forlan, history, west civil., politics, etc]. and yeah, may retake sat1 in jan.

really hope you get into pton. you have an amazing personality and diverse cultural experiences.

thanks Jrock. I hope I get into Princeton ED...if not I'll be applying to Cornell, Penn (wharton), Dartmouth, Stanford. I got rejected Cornell, Princeton and Dartmouth RD last year...:( scores are better this year. I got AP scores to prove that there is no grade inflation etc.

I bet u'll get into cornell jrock...good luck!

thx.....lol my reject list was a li'l bit similar - Y/P/Penn/Cornell - applied to all 1-2 wks after deadline [last-minute freak] and didn't send in all req. academic credentials. i got into my 4 original schools, tho [washu, iit, neu, usc], but i increasingly felt inadequate and knew that there was so much room for improvement - self-studied for a-level in summer, and now drastic improvements on sat1&2!! i can actually feel the maturity beginning to set in - treating apps with more seriousness and soberness, better essays, time to think...
