Hi, so I just wanted to know my chances of getting into UIllinois.
Senior this fall
Illinois resident
ACT:27
GPA:3.9
Class rank:100/535 (so top 19%, my school is very competitive)
Class Rigor: I've been taking honors and AP classes throughout my high school career and I'm taking 4 AP courses this year so yes, i would say my class rigor has been increasing each year.
Extracurricular activities: 2 years of tennis, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, SADD Club, I'm an active volunteer and I plan on adding more clubs and another volunteering source to my list. Also, I am a peer mentor.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I think you have a good chance. Maybe bring up your class rank. And is your GPA unweighted?

At my school there is only a cumulative GPA; weighted and unweighted is only for semester, I don’t understand why, but when I spoke with an admissions counselor at UIllinois they said they take whatever favors the student better. And I’m taking the September ACT so hopefully my score goes up.

what major are you applying for? I’d say you are definitely in for DGS, but Business/Engineering will be pretty difficult because 27 is a pretty low score for those two colleges. Good luck on the september act =)

Thank you! (: I am interested in business but I think I’ll apply to transfer before my sophomore year if I get in and decide to attend UIllinois. If I apply to the business program right away would I get rejected or just get into DGS?

You’d just get put into DGS – same thing happened to someone I know.

yup you automatically get considered for DGS, just remember that if you do want to transfer into Business, you only get 1 chance so study hard freshman year and get a solid GPA
