I was wondering what my chances would be like getting into USC or UCLA even though i am an out of state african american girl from Virginia ? My freshman year didnt go so well cause i had a gpa of a 2.9 but ive heard that colleges tend to look over that year in many applicants . i just finished my sophmore year and received a gpa of a 3.4 . this upcoming junior year i am taking 3 ib and 2 ap classes and plan to make straight A's all year long . i also plan to redo those grades from freshman year this summer in order to raise my gpa . what would my chances be of still being able to get into an ivy league ?

3.4 is still a little low for the top UC’s and USC, and very low for the Ivies. Your minority status will help you but your grades are going to bring you down. Try mid-tier UC’s. And why don’t you look at Virginia public schools? William & Mary and UVa are two of the best public universities in the country and you’re in-state. You have good chances there.

what mid tier UC’S would you recomend ? and do colleges tend to look over freshman year grades?
