Hello everyone, I'm planning on applying to some schools and was hoping that you guys could give me an idea of what my chances are at each. I'm going for Bio/Pre Med.

Any responses or advice would really be appreciated

buuuuuuuuump…

-Brown University high reach
-Boston College high match
-Tufts University low reach
-Boston University match
-NYU high match
-Johns Hopkins low reach
-Northeastern (Legacy- brother graduated from pharmacy program) low match
-Drexel (Legacy- Sister grad from architecture program) safety

Your uw and w GPA is a little low for the more selective schools on your list and my chances are based on your current and projected SAT score. Your volunteer work is good however your ECs are a little thin for the most selective schools on your list. Make sure you have some financial match and safety schools on your list because some of these schools do not offer much in the way of merit-based financial aid (BC and NYU as examples).

Good luck!

A little thin? Teh…

My personal view is that your ECs are adequate and your volunteer work is spectacular. The SAT score is nothing special, but it’s not going to hold you back in the admissions. You should also take two Subject Tests (I think Brown requires two and JHU recommends 3). Yes, your GPA is a little low, but as your said, you have an upward trend. It depends how large your trend is. If it’s something like (Freshman Year GPA: 3.21, Sophomore Year GPA: 3.56, Junior Year GPA: 3.98) I can see you having a chance. However, if yours is more like (Freshman Year GPA: 3.5, Sophomore Year GPA: 3.6, Junior Year GPA: 3.7), I don’t see much of a chance.

-Brown University- Mid-High Reach
-Boston College- Low Reach
-Tufts University- Low reach
-Boston University- Match
-NYU- match
-Johns Hopkins- Low reach
-Northeastern- safety
-Drexel- safety

This could change though. If your SAT goes up, and your SAT subject tests are high then you have a higher chance at getting in. It also depends on what exactly this upward trend is… Reply with your grade breakdown. The main problem is your low gpa, but your EC’s are pretty good. :)

thanks for your replies and comments. my gpa has gone from around freshman 3.4, sophmore 3.6 and junior 3.8something. im determined to get a 4.0 this semester and know that i can. Not exactly as big an improvement as Samonuh mentioned but i dont think its that bad.
Samonuh, i mentioned that I’m taking the subject Bio M and Math II subject tests in november (maybe chemistry for a third).
Does the fact that I’m an american citizen and have residency in Massachusetts but live in and am originally from Greece help at all? I’ve moved back and forth from US to Greece several times which is actually what i started to write about for my common app essay.
Thanks.

anyone want to respond?
