Recommendations: I should have VERY good recommendations from counselors and teachers.

Your leadership experience could inspire memorable essays… How did you make a difference when you were in charge, and what do you plan to bring to the Rice campus? Writing about what you’ve done at the McLean County Urban League could make a strong impression. Also, something about your hospital volunteer work and how it might have led you to a pre-med path … The recs sound good, too – good luck!

You have a good shot, work hard on those essays and rock the interview! My rice interview/essays were my favorite experience throughout the college application process and I think were definitely the deciding factors for my app. Good luck and make sure those essays are memorable! Try looking at them from a different perspective rather than answering them completely directly, if that makes sense.

Dude that ACT is not too hot. According to the admissions people they will be accepting less people this year. Last year the middle 50% of applicants who got in had between a 31 and a 34

^^ The ACT score is not going to disqualify you from admission. The higher the score, the better, so retake the ACT if you can/feel like, but do not feel like it is mandatory to your admission.

Good Luck!
