I am applying ED to Haverford. I know it's a reach, but I was wondering what my chances would be like.

My GPA is about 3.3, but much of that is due to a poor sophomore year, due to extenuating circumstances I will be covering in my essay. Taking soph year out of the equation, it's about a 3.6. I scored a 2090 (730 CR, 700 M, 660 W) on the March SAT, and am awaiting the results of my October test. 5's on both the World and US History AP tests, and 780 on the US history SAT II (I am taking the Lit subject test in November). I attend a New York City private school, but I do have an interesting and unusual family situation that might set me apart.

I would major in something humanities-related (I want to be a sports journalist eventually).

Senior classes:
AP Bio
AP Spanish
AP Stats
English 12
Two history electives, one on poverty in the USA, and one on how language affects action.

My school allows students to take up to 5 AP classes in their 4 years of high school, and I have taken all 5.

I am captain of both my school's baseball and basketball teams, a class president, drummer in the jazz ensemble, sports editor of the yearbook, and contributor to the newspaper.

I coach little league baseball for money during the summer, as well as volunteer at a camp in Maine for kids with life threatening illnesses and their families. I have had my sportswriting published in online media, as well as a local community newspaper.

What do my chances look like?
