EC:
- Swimming (Vars. 4 yrs)
Record holder on Guam, represented Guam in Japan meets, made sectionals last year for California Central. Looking to make it to state by senior year. Besides high school, I also swim club and have qualified for Far Westerns twice and hope to make it to Pacific Rim times.
- President/Founder Habitat for Humanity Chapter
- Sons of Legion (Secretary)

Possibly looking at one more officer position, but would rather concentrate on what I have right now.

Last summer, I spent the majority of my time as a swim instructor as well as performing lifeguard duties. This summer, doing that as well as returning to Taiwan to teach English. Also applying for Boy's State.

How bad are my ECs? I know they're not that great, but are they at least acceptable? I'm a member of numerous other clubs, but I'm not sure if I can handle another officer position since I'd really like to focus on my club as well as the Legion.

Erikt360,
You have excellent Academics, Athletics and Leadership. I think the best place to look at how you stack up is to consider the profile for the USMA Class of 2014 and look at the leadership positions listed: [url=http://www.usma.edu/Class/2014/profile.asp]United States Military Academy at West Point/url.

Do you have or have you been Captain of Swim Team? THat would be a strong point for USMA and if you have good times in swimming, you may want to begin contacting the USMA Swim Coach – it certainly can’t hurt to compare your current times with those listed on USMA web site.

I also know that USMA looks very strongly upon Boys State and sounds like you are very well connected with American Legion.

I think when it comes to EC’s, most recommend being involved in activities you enjoy and can point to leadership roles. It appears that you have done that very well!

Good luck and keep up good work on SAT scores! Take as many as you can and keep improving!

Academics is 60% of their decision, so if you have that nailed, you’re good to go. I don’t see anything wrong with your ECs and if you’re a swimmer, you’ll pbly score high on your CFA.

When WP chooses applicants, they this is how they weight it:
60% academics
30% EC
10% CFA (candidate fitness assessment).

As long as you don’t screw up your paperwork or something, I think you’ve got an incredibly good chance at getting in.

Alright, junior year is beginning to wrap up in a few months, so I’d like to update this and see if I can get some more opinions on how to improve:
