Chances?

I dunno what my chances are. Applying to University Park, out of state.

ACT: 30 (25 math, 30 English, 32 Reading, 31 Science, 10 Writing)

GPA: Unweighted 3.1, weighted 3.33. Honors English freshman and sophomore year, AP Language along with AP European History junior year, and AP Government and Politics, AP Literature, and AP Physics online this year. Also, very positive grade trend.

Did band for three years. Dropped it to take AP Physics this year.

Hispanic

I did apply for DUS and LEAP (summer session), so apparently that dramatically increases my chances, but I'm wondering if this is still a far cry? At first I thought I had decent chances, what with DUS and LEAP, but I also was positive I would get into MSU with no second thought, and I got deferred to seventh semester grades.

Your GPA is low and that counts for 2/3 of the admission decision. They then look to test scores, then class rank, then activities for the other 1/3 (at least that’s what our guidance counselor told us). Your ACT is definitely at the upper end of their middle 50 percentile…what’s your class rank?

This is just my opinion, and I’m certainly no expert, but I’m sorry to say that I don’t think your chances look good. Being Hispanic and OOS may help, but I just think your GPA is too low.
