Chances?

I just returned from a visit to Clemson, and love it! I have applied for admission (applied Oct.) to their L & IT program. I have a 3.8 weighted GPA and an 27 ACT comp. (29 math, 29 English) I am taking it again in Dec because admissions said they would accept those scores. Have taken all the AP and honors classes my school offers. Great EC s and leadership roles in sports, but Clemson says they really don't consider this. My biggest problem is class rank...26 out of 85 (small parochial school.) I AM in a very competitive class. Also, I am out of state. What are my chances? Thanks.

Your grades are good and your ACT score is in range of what Clemson usually wants so they might overlook your class rank. Also if your school has a good reputation, that may help you out.

I’d say you have a good chance of getting in. Good luck!

Thanks! My OOS status does concern me…

don’t let it be. In 2010, the in-state acceptance rate for the College of Arts, Architecture and Humanities was 55.1% while the out-of-state acceptance rate was 49.4% so the difference isn’t that big. The reason there are more in-state students can be seen in the % that actually enroll. 49.2% of accepted in-state students enroll while only 14.9% of accepted out of state students enroll

Thanks for that info, Pierre. My S is also OOS, so your facts definitely help ease the mind!
